I think honestly the best thing about Lupin and Zenigata is they're both freaks for each other. Like you think it's only Zenigata who's unhinged about Lupin and has memorized everything about him but nooooo! Lupin is just as unhinged as Zenigata. He knows everything about the inspector just like the inspector with him. Lupin matches this freak energy with his own freak energy and they're both borderline obsessed with each other to a point where if something happens to the other they go completely insane in their own special way. And it's glorious.

I like to yap to y'all example being-

In my au of Lupin meeting a version of Zenigata that never became a cop hence never meeting him, I like to picture the dynamic switching up a bit. Now it's Lupin actively chasing Zenigata in a way, to feel that connection with this man. This man who's his greatest rival, now in this universe a simple handyman. Who has no idea who Lupin is but can't help but be intrigued and embarrassed to be pursued so much. Of Lupin thinking about his Zenigata saying-

"We're bond by fate. The red string connects us both."

And how he didn't take it too seriously but now he thinks maybe Pops was onto something. Because here he is, once again drawn to the man in question. And falling in love with him and missing his Zenigata more than ever.

I need to eventually write something for the Handyman Zenigata thing because it's such a fascinating and devastating concept. Lupin who's so used to having Pops chase him, to having Pops there one step behind him. Now no longer having that, instead getting this other Zenigata where they're strangers. Where Zenigata never became his rival, instead just living out his days feeling like something is missing. But not knowing why. A complete switch up of Lupin being the one who yearns more openly, because he's essentially lost the one consistent person in his life.

Gahhhh it's been in my brain for years I need to do a fic sometime get back into my LuZeni roots.

Lupin out loud: I wonder what I taste like?

Zenigata: I can help with that.

Being reminded how down bad Lupin and Zenigata are like brother can you BE more obvious about your big fat crush on each other like brother please-

Jigen and Zenigata complaining about being old and being little shits whenever they're annoyed with Lupin. Like they'll just become more obnoxious and petty and their already sarcastic quips get even higher. Jigen and Zenigata literally bouncing off of one another, all while looking somewhat smug while Lupin's slowly losing his mind.
