I like writing aus where Zenix doesn’t betray Garroth because I’m the World’s Biggest Sucker for the trope of a character trying to do an evil act to prove themself worthy to a villian and being incapable of doing it for the simple fact that they care too much about who it would hurt.

but Garroth turns around. He sees Zenix with blood-red eyes and unfathomable anger. He sees Zenix with trembling fingers, prepared to kill.

and suddenly Zenix can’t let the arrow fly. He wants to. He so desperately wants to, but his body doesn’t let them.
