Bit of a lore primer for these new pieces I’m going to be posting! Just a quick who’s who of dragons you’ll see, with links to their bios if that’s something that interests you. (This will be updated as new dragons are introduced, and are listed in order of appearance (more or less)).
Woodson: local apprentice medic. the eldest of a clutch of three, though most would take him for the youngest. his brothers Jesse and James are notorious train robbers, who once had bounties that reached into the millions. he spent most of his younger years covering for them, until they took a permanent position in another clan and he was left adrift with little purpose. his brothers’ new employer has taken care of most of the legal repercussions, but there’s still good money on their heads...
Zero: professional information broker and clan founder, though he turned leadership over to Raiden and Elysia years ago in exchange for the freedom to roam. his personal brand of magic makes it difficult for him to be noticed, unless someone who knows him is looking for him specifically. famous among the clan, but notoriously aloof. Clan Weird Uncle.
Wyatt: barkeep, amateur alchemist, animal hoarder. owner of the Rattler’s Rest Saloon & Inn, the center of the town’s social life. Clan Dad and an unofficial leader, though no one’s really sure when that happened.
Rheinier: actual trained alchemist, technically kind of Wyatt’s mentor despite the age gap. close friend of Woodson’s, they were developing new types of healing potions together.
Mini Dodo: local familiar keeper. sweet and well-loved, but... odd. favorite greeting: flying headbutt.
Cain: local punk, but also a skilled roboticist (to everyone’s annoyance). best friend is a Mith, loves to pick fights about it.
Meilin: town spymaster, head of Elysia’s information network. Zero maintains his own separate contacts, but they work together often. (they’re not yet sure whether they trust each other.)
Voxifera: a Plagueborn mercenary, most notable for the second mouth located on the side of her neck. has been spending her days with Kadara, pestering the Ashfall Wastes.
Kadara: an elder Plague mercenary- though not elderly, far from it. long past the point of giving a damn about anything, considers “kicking ass and making cash” to be her retirement.
For the past month, Zero and Woodson have been away on a trip to @fr-dew‘s Rosecutter Clan, where Woodson’s brother Jesse was getting married. The Rosecutters are the Pointe’s oldest and closest allies, despite their location in the far-away Wind territories. In addition to being Zero’s birthplace, the clan is home to Woodson’s brothers, Wyatt’s daughter and granddaughter, Elysia’s daughter, and Mini’s father. (as well as several others we won’t mention right now, because we’re addicted to buying each others’ kids...)
The two were expected back home a little over two weeks ago, but Zero is rather notorious for going off on random errands, so no one is freaking out quite yet. As long as Woodson is with Zero, he’s perfectly safe.
series title is from Muse, because of course it is.
you were left unprotected to these wild and fragile lands but you can rise up like a god arm yourself you can be strong
