While Serena and Wally were out trying to solve one of Hoenn’s myriad of strange legendary mysteries, Red was wandering the region a bit. Despite Hoenn being so close by to Kanto and Johto, he’d never really visited for very long before. Tropical climates were fine for vacations for him, but he definitely missed the woodland he’d grown up in so semi-close by, or the quiet city he lived in with his fiancé now. 

Still, Mossdeep City was fairly quiet too and full of interesting people for Serena and her friend to talk to whenever they got back. It’s while he’s walking along the beach that he notices someone ahead that he’s sure he recognizes.

That’s... not the current Hoenn champion is it? No wait-- that’s his brother right? Unless I’m out of touch. But if I’m recalling correctly...

“Brendan Ramsey?” He asks without thinking. He’d seen that name come up in paying close attention to news articles about current champions years ago. He was unfamiliar with a lot of the Hoenn gossip about him, but he remembers someone comparing him to Red for the fact he’d stepped down. He didn’t forget that, he’d always wondered about it too and never had an opportunity to ask. 

Today was probably not that day either, but still, it didn’t hurt to say hi to another former champion. Mostly. Hopefully.

"I know you tell me you don't mind whatever it is I get you, but I really try my best to find stuff that I think you'd like for days like today so..." Wally presents a small statuette of Rayquaza's dragon form with a hopeful smile. "They were selling it in the wrong color again, booo on them for that. So I actually repainted it the right colors myself, guess my hobby with doing that comes in handy sometimes. Still if it doesn't look professional then that'd be why, but still... happy father's day dad." - zerogravitywave

Rayquaza takes the statuette carefully in his hands, not wanting to break it somehow or drop it. The paint job is the first thing he notices, golden eyes looking over it incredulously. He was going to have to put this somewhere safe; he'd cherish it forever. Not just because it was a customized statuette of him, but because Wally worked so hard painting it.

"You did this yourself?" He'd ask, admiring the glossy obsidian paint. "It looks perfect, Wally, I'm amazed." Rayquaza added with a proud smile. "Thank you... you're the best son I could ask for." He'd pull the other into a quick embrace.

He arrives as Rayquaza's going wild with his balloons, whether it's out of rage or enjoyment Wally really can't tell. But even if it wasn't out of any sort of happiness he hoped that he'd enjoy the cake he made for him anyway. He tries to wave him down with a smile, holding a container with an extremely dark chocolate cake. He hopes he'll enjoy the added spice of the fragments of cheri berries in it, he'd mentioned liking a bit of spice to a cake before. "Happy birthday dad!" He chimes, hoping that he can lift his spirits at least a little. - zerogravitywave

Rayquaza had indeed been wreaking havoc on the thousands of balloons that filled his tower. It honestly was a good distraction, though he doubted Kyogre really thought that far into it. He was sure she just wanted to be annoying more than anything. Sharp fangs easily pierced through one of the colorful balloons, bursting with a loud pop that reverberated off the stone walls. He was so busy popping balloons with his fangs and claws that he hadn’t even noticed Wally enter until he waved.

Rayquaza stopped rather quickly, some stray balloons clinging to the static from his hair and clothing. He brushed them off as he made his way through the literal balloon ocean towards Wally, noticing the container he had in his hands.

“Thanks Wally. I appreciate it.” He really didn’t have to make Rayquaza a cake at all, but regardless, the gesture was quite touching. “It might be hard to have a cake in this mess,” he looked around at the sea of balloons, resisting the urge to bite at a bright blue one that caught his eye, “we can go outside to eat if you want?”

     It cannot be true. That thing should not exist-- it has to be a lie. A mere rumour, to force themselves into one one of the few lines connected to ancient royalty.      But those three would not dare lie to him.
