it's 10:30pm and thanksgiving was underwhelming and this holiday is built on the genocide and cultural appropriation of native peoples but I'm going to make a list of things I am thankful for regardless because I think the sentiment is nice even if the holiday is shitty

so, below the cut: in no particular order, a list of things I am thankful for, from the serious to the... not.

i am thankful that no one has emailed me in the past 24 hours

i am thankful for christmas music, especially the Straight No Chaser christmas albums and the Klaine christmas duets, because fuck you

i am thankful for clear plastic eyebrow rings, so my sweet old grandparents didn't have to see metal in my face and freak out

I am thankful for kaleigh, liz, and rachel for being the only reason I come home anymore besides my mother. even though they all abandoned me this thanksgiving to go be in way cooler places and do way cooler things with way cooler people, i forgive them because they are all doing super important shit with their lives and I am so so proud of them. i love them all fiercely and being home without any of them here hurts more than it probably should.

I am thankful for Lucy, Kate, and Anna for being the beautiful, badass feminist best friends i have always wanted, and for their endless love and support through this ridiculous semester. i am thankful for every glass of cheap wine and every buzzfeed link and every night spent staying up talking way too late after a party. 

I am thankful for Peter and Allison for being 2/3 of my sanity constants for the most challenging and ultimately rewarding theatrical experience of my life thus far, and for becoming part of a codependent friendship conglomerate that became my housemates and some of my closest friends.

I am thankful for Tori for always putting a smile on my face whenever I see her, because she literally radiates warmth and it is impossible not to bask in it.

I am thankful for Matt and Nick for listening as I shared parts of my life with them and for sharing in return. i am also thankful for Matt's hugs, from which i am pretty sure I draw life force, and Nick's unique brand of twitter sass, which provides a constant source of entertainment and keeping myself in check.

I am thankful for the two experiences I had with two different people this semester that helped me realize a lot of my own self worth, that helped me realize that I am desirable and worthy of other people's time and attention. One of you will probably read this, you know who you are. 

I am thankful that I've finally stopped hating myself and that I'm finally not as scared of going after what I want anymore. 

I am thankful for Eliza and Claire, who always check in on me when I make sad read more posts, which means more to me than they probably realize.

I am thankful for my sweet and wonderful mother and grandparents, for loving me no matter what.

And finally, for this round, I am thankful for theatre as an art form, for continuing to teach me things and kick my ass and provide me with friends and family and emotional and personal fulfillment. I am thankful that I get to do what I love and worry about the details later.
