[Eng Translation] With Luca Marinelli at the Zürich Film Festival
Luca, after having known success, do you keep a dream in the drawer?
I feel very lucky. I'm happy with the things I've done so far. I am happy to have met the people I met. My dream? Keep doing the things I'm doing.
In the film "The Eight Mountains" you are the narrator of a beautiful friendship story. How important is friendship for you and do you think that friendship with a capital F still exists today where the common good prevails and not individual selfishness that turns into envy?
Yes, this film is a beautiful example of life. A metaphor, a story, a wonderful novel that draws from life. I am convinced that friendship exists, as love exists.
The mountain is also the common thread of four lives that otherwise would never have known each other. What relationship do you have with the alpine world, where nature and silence prevail?
I remember very well the silences. The mountain in the film is another character, along with the cast. During the film we had an extraordinary guide, Paolo Cognetti, the author of the book, together with his friends, who helped us so much to experience the story there, in Valle D'Aosta, for a whole month, in the cold and under the sun. Building a house at 2,300 meters above sea level was a wonderful idea.
Can physical isolation or creating a world all to oneself be a damage to the human being?
Of course, we humans were born to share, to be with others. Although sometimes it's nice to be alone... but for a period of time, then you have to go back to being a social being.
Will have learned more who has made the tour of the eight mountains or who has reached the top of Mount Sumeru?
Who knows, in the film they both learn…
