"Some bands you just have to hear. Japan's KOENJIHYAKKEI (aka Koenji Hyakkei aka Hundred Sights of Koenji) are just such a band. Headed by vocalist / composer / drummer extraordinaire Tatsuya Yoshida (of the renowned bass and drum duo RUINS) and emboldened by overcharged reeds, glittery keyboards and a soaring front-woman speaking in somersaulting tongues, KOENJIHYAKKEI blend progressive rock, jazz fusion, symphonic rock and neoclassicism with the energy of hardcore punk, the volume of metal and the attitude of rock in opposition."
A few key things to understand about KICKSTARTER and CROWDFUNDING:
• Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform. If we don’t raise the funds before the end of the campaign, we get $00- and the album will will not be released on vinyl.
• If you pledge support, you won't be charged until the end of the campaign, and even then - only if the campaign is successful.
• You actually get something tangible in return for the investment. We can accept pledges from all over and will ship rewards worldwide.
Even if you don't have a turntable, you can pledge funds and get a the CD version or Digital Download in return. And you'll get it before the official release date!
You can see a complete list of rewards, preview some of the artwork and make a pledge / pre-order at this direct link HERE. We'll continue to post updates at the Kickstarter page as the campaign goes on.
The band and I appreciate that funding a campaign such as this requires a bit of a leap of faith. If the community sees us through to a successfully funded campaign, we'll do our best to meet or exceed everyone's expectations. Please help us spread the news, we've only got two weeks to see this through. Below are links to some assets that can be used to help get the word out.
Thanks Everyone!

Magma - K.A I
The advantage of working at this time of the year for me is that I get to come back home early - this leaves me time for some couch time! I will slide it in anytime I can!
This afternoon is another LP from Magma reissue campaign - this time, K.A.
This album was the official return of the band, having last recorded in the seventies. And what a return this was. Released in 2004, this album is on par with their best 70s material, almost ignoring the fact that over 25 years have gone by since their last recording. A French band that has never been afraid to push the envelope!
Complex harmonies influenced by some jazz, opera and classical, it is quite a mix of music. There are no brutal musical changes here; only gradual shifts from one paradigm to the other. The 3 pieces work as a cohesive sound, leaving the listener with a 40 plus minute of a grandiose piece of work. A product from the 70s, this work was completed 10 years ago and the result is very nice indeed!
The language that has been created for the lyrics work well in the context. I was also surprised at the number of signers on here (5). Everything is flawless. The drums are, as always, excellent, creating quite the energizing sound. Vander is the backbone of the sound.
Very difficult music to describe; let to ears be the judge on this one. If you do not know the band, you need to correct this right away. Very rarely do I get to hear music that sounds so different than the majority of the band I listen too…. I guess that’s a prog sub-genre was created for their sound; Zheul.
The LP itself sounds pretty nice, being a product of the digital age; I am curious to hear if the next albums of the reissue will use the analogue tapes as a starting point.
Anyways, a great album from a great band!
Keep on Proggin’
