Hi! I keep seeing hanfu robes with just one shoulder, usually for men. What's up with that? Is it a thing that actually existed?
Hi, thanks for the question, and sorry for taking ages to reply!
Yes, the style of wearing hanfu robes with just one shoulder for men existed historically, during the Tang dynasty. As @beehunni62 wrote in this post:
The specific trend of hanfu worn here was one used during the Tang Dynasty, specifically for archery and/or horse riding. It’s composed of a white silk round collar undershirt 圆领汗衫中衣, a jacket called a banbi 半臂, and a round collar robe 圓領袍.
The sleeve pertaining to the arm of the dominant hand was removed from the shoulder and tucked under the belt to allow for maximum mobility and comfort while shooting arrows or horse riding.
The trend created the opportunity for two or more different fabrics to be placed side by side showcasing an aesthetic contrast.
Please check out the post for a more detailed explanation with images.
Hope this helps! ^^

At this point I can’t recommend @adorama to my #photographycommunity or those that follow my work. I’ve had a pretty bad headache at dealing with them especially during these times struggling as a photographer. @amazon & @bhphoto are my preferred choices. I’ve had too many experiences having to return poor copies of lenses & exchanging them in order to get good copies. . I haven’t completely ruled out #Adorama but each experience is getting worse. Today I found out they have a customer grading system!? Maybe we need a camera store grading system for those who rely on photo tools as working tools!? Apparently @Adorama doesn’t like it if you ask for a lens exchange if you get a bad copy of a lens? And they refuse to expedite any exchange process when you’re in a bind or getting ready to travel or limited on time!? With today’s mass production of mirrorless lenses by big camera manufacturers this is a huge problem which is evident by all the discourse on this topic via forums like DPReview & Fred Miranda. I test all my gear before those sales become final but Adorama seems to frown on this & their reaction is more abrasive than either BH or Amazon. BH knows the business better & knows about bad copies of lenses. . Photo was captured by me out in #BerylUtah in the #earlymorning using the #Zhongyi #mitakon35mmf095 lens wide open. Captured with the @canonusa #M50 and #Zhongyi #Speedmaster 35mm F0.95 in the early AM in #BerylJunction, #Utah. I would like to shoot the Canon EFM 32mm F1.4 lens to see how it compares but it’s currently out of reach for me! #TestShots with the #Zhongyi #ZYOptics #mitakon35mmf095 on the #CanonEOSM50 captured wide open at F0.95! It looks pretty sharp wide open which is rare for such a fast lens. I’ll continue to test as time allows. Just shooting around my yard! (at Cedar City, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bnv-9HYBIo6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10vi8ukkb2y41
