So while I am patiently waiting for the Zuko x Ama fic. I am curious to know how would Ama look ? How would her outfits be is it similar to Katara’s or something different. How does she wear her hair? Considering that she is the oldest

So, I had to go back to the fic to read a few things to answer this since it’s been a while. 

I think there would be kind of a big difference between how Ama looked like a teen versus how she looks at the start of chapter 8 and also a big difference between her and Katara. 

When I started writing Her Sun His Moon, I kinda pictured Ama to look kinda like Korra with sleeveless kimono styled tunics, darker colors. A full badass. Her clothing would contrast to Katara in the way that Katara wears a more feminine tunic that is longer and resembles a dress. Ama’s tunic is more resembling Sokka’s so it’s a lot shorter.

Regarding hair, Ama had hair shorter than Katara’s that ended past a few inches pasted her shoulders as opposed to the waist lengthed hair that Katara has. Katara also has her hair more traditionally done with the hair loopies while Ama would just put her hair into a half ponytail.

Now, at the start of chapter eight, everyone’s grown up. Ama is more in touch with her femininity. She wears lavender often, which is also traditionally what more mature women in the Water Tribe would wear, she does her hair more, she looks more well kept than she did as a teen. And considering that she isn’t fighting in a war and has more leniency as well as time to treat herself, it makes sense.

In the comics and in ATLA art, Katara has more defines features. She no longer looks just like her mom, just also like her dad. She has a more oval-shaped face, I imagine that she’d have a more toned jawline and cheek bones. Ama, I picture, looks almost exactly like her mom. Heart-shaped face, soft jawline, not as defined cheekbones. However, Ama is a bit more muscular given how much more she’s trained in not just waterbending, but with weapons.
