klaasje calling herself a "destroyer" and being almost relieved at harry breaking down the door, her wanting to rampage *soldier of the apocalypse* style to rebel against the moralist society that failed her connects to harry's actions before the start of the game and zigi with his belief in ambrosius saint-miro and nihilism when he's younger. we know that she came to revachol because of rumours of the return, an event that can mean a number of things but possibly refers to the return to the pale which entropolists advocate for, and says that she part of the anti-human task force which further connects her to the anti-object task force that harry and zigi are a part of, her response to the thought of causing the world to disappear is reminiscent of saint-miro's speech. harry waking up with a broken window, the one in klaasje's room and zigi throwing a brick that breaks the one in the lund house and causes him and målin to meet, whom he calls "destruction" and eventually leads to him disappearing into the pale just like her and her sisters, like how harry attempted in the church with another shattered window, and what klaasje is doing by trying to run from the world and her past. you can also draw parallels between harry's relationship with alcohol, zigi being so drunk he can’t feel the cold, klaasje coming down from her high and shivering, and the warmth målin feels from the cherry speed

i think about this section of sacred and terrible air lot. there’s the obvious parallel between knezhinisky and nilsen, one being the current chairman of samara and the other being its literally erased founder, and also of nilsen’s virulent misogyny vs knezhinisky’s more paternalistic (in more than one sense of the word) attitude, like he isn’t being overtly misogynistic here, but “cover yourself up” is still a very loaded phrase. but again at the same time, lundqvist is probably a teenager on that billboard, isn’t she? and the fact her image is displayed specifically on a billboard as well, something so ubiquitous that you hardly even notice it. looming over you as you go about your day, not even warranting a second glance, selling you detergent and food and cigarettes and lingerie on an underaged girl. in a way, selling you that girl. and how in chapter 12, in his first real introduction, zigi calls paederasty a "bourgeois disease," immediately after that "paederasts are bourgeois." this is, of course, an interesting phrasing. perhaps zigi is using it in a more literal sense, but it far more commonly is used as a slur to refer to gay men, and to insinuate gay men are all pedophiles (dros uses it this same way in de). zigi also uses the term rather freely, he calls karl lund a paederast and a poofta while he threatens to rape his wife (woman as possession, collateral damage of emasculating a man). and during this interaction nilsen is not only present, but is actively encouraging zigi as he does this. and anita is still on that billboard. she still began dating the very rich and very famous interior designer jesper de la guardie at only fifteen year old, and she is discarded only four years later. and she sits, half naked, on a bright billboard on a winter’s evening. and it is chairman sapormat knezhinisky who asks her: but dear child, aren’t you cold?

A Guide to The Verstappen Dachshunds 🐶

The Verstappen’s have owned dachshunds for over 30 years (according to Jos!) and as a dachshund lover myself I thought I would put together everything I know so far about the Verstappen sausages.

Spyke

Spyke is the most well known Verstappen dachshund as he was Max’s best friend for 11 years. Spyke lived with Jos and Max, until Max moved out, and then Spyke stayed with Jos.

Spyke died at the very end of 2020 and Max bid an emotional farewell to him on Instagram.

Zigi

Zigi is often confused for Spyke (as let’s be real they look the same) but Zigi is actually Sophie’s dog.

He is currently 14 years old and doing well! I think he had a sister called Zaza but I have not managed to find out very much about Zaza.

@tyrannosaurus-maxy also made me this gifset of Zigi (and Zaza?) from Max Verstappen: Whatever It Takes as Max fusses Zigi and Zaza in the video and they’re often spotted in the background.

Holly

Holly is a new addition! She lives with Sophie and Zigi. There is not currently any photos of Max with Holly and when there are you will know about it as I will likely combust.

Holly is an Isabella (this is a diluted colouring and makes me sad 😭) miniature smooth haired dachshund, which actually makes her different as up until now it appears the Verstappen’s have only owned miniature wire haired dachshunds.

Others

Jos does currently have a miniature wire haired dachshund but I am not sure of the name, however… here it is!

I believe this is Zaza? (Sophie’s dog and Zigi’s sister)
