For the @omgcplovefest five favourite fics day. These are all taken from my AO3 bookmarks. There may not be anything new here for people who’ve been in the fandom for a while, but even so, they’re worth re-reads, or first reads if you’ve missed them.

I just re-read this the other day and yep, still great. It’s an alternate meeting AU with Jack in the NHL and Bitty working in a baking supplies store. While we’re here, I’ll say that if you like this one you may as well do yourself a favour and go and read all their other fics, because they’re all just as enjoyable. Fluff and other hopeful fics, and not just Zimbits.

It’s like a rom-com where Jack and Bitty hook-up overseas and then [spoilers - go read it]. I love it so much! Well written fluff that still has layers of drama, tension and hilarity (and yes, some sexiness too).

Basically a real-time account of Jack and Bitty’s Skype conversations over the summer after they kiss in Goodbye For The Summer - Part II. Day by day, it shows them growing into their new relationship, opening up to and learning about each other. It’s wonderful. I would read another 73k of it.

A fabulous reworking of the comic with Kent as part of the Samwell hockey team. Totally in awe of how believably this fic fits Kent in with the rest of the team, and a really gorgeous (though at times torturous to read in a good-hurt kind of way) relationship between Bitty and Kent. I have more than one SummerFrost fic bookmarked because they are all amazing, and really emotive.

In the author’s own words, “AU where the Goodbye for the Summer comics didn’t happen". It’s going to take a while to read, but it’s going to be worth it. I’ve read it multiple times despite the length because it’s so well done; the characters, the story, the pacing, the everything. I’m blown away by the dedication it must have taken to write every time.
