zine(s) for the @zinebash interactive challenge — a purposefully janky and ungainly game for one, simulating a morning with my particular patterns of ocd or ocd-like thought-spiraling.
'playing' only the first zine is intended to reflect a relatively calm mind, while playing with both zines derails the morning through multiple unplanned spirals of scrupulous thoughts.
our next challenge event is happening soon! you can go ahead and get started planning/making your zines, but you’ll only have two weeks to submit for the gallery page.
for this challenge your zine MUST:
be a mini zine (any style, as long as it uses just 1 sheet of paper!)
feature some kind of interactive element
… but everything else is up to you!
submission form for inclusion in the gallery
please also tag us in your zine posts here so we can reblog! you can also post WIPs and finished zines in our discord. we are not making a download pack for this challenge event, so creators are encouraged to provide their own printables and/or link to their zine shops.

I made a zine!! It’s a lil choose your own adventure created for the current @zinebash challenge: interactive! Very excited to see what other folks come up with!
I wasn’t able to get a proper scan yet but I plan to upload one asap so folks can download and print their own copies. Check back here for that in the near future!
ZINE BASH #06: ALL THE SMALL THINGS [@zinebash] ‘Our Childhood Dollhouse’
An easy one for me - queen of the small things - going back to my roots of spending countless hours at my plethora of dollhouses - one at each of my many estates (grandparents houses).
Being an only child for half my life and being fortunate enough to have loving grandparents whom never moved my childhood things, I am left with whole rooms that have remained relatively untouched since I put down my games of make believe for the last time. Funny how you never realise when that will be, because although I still love to arrange, name and display little guys I can’t seem to breathe life into them like I did back then. And without that little girl squirrelling herself away to that house everyday I don’t think I’d be the person I am today, and for that I thank that her and make this tribute to her favourite small things.

i. general
i did a screen print filter for jock o rama and then just. ran with it. i really like how it turned out tho ^^
colors are inspired by a set of highlighters i use to make zines irl. 2 pages each for a color!
also i thought the zines were due by the 20th and only like yesterday realized i have ten more days than i thought so i *may* make a second entry. no garuantees
ii. title
this was honestly the last page i did. i kinda wanted to get a feel for the whole zine and then come back. despite the stitching being nowhere else in the zine.
iii. jock o rama
this is one of my favorite dk songs and i really like that line and imagery of "hook em, horns" (obviously). not much to add besides the green on each pink panel were not there originally
iv. holiday in cambodia
this is actually the only page that uses a font! the rest are all hand written. i really like how it turned out despite being one of the simplest in the zine
v. california über alles
that little like. idk what you'd call it. breakdown? part is my favorite in the whole song and i wanted to use it ^^
vi. a growing boy needs his lunch
this is another one of my favorite dk songs but i still couldnt figure out anything to do with it for the longest time. i ended up going with something representative of the first verse. i do like the overlay of the jesus statue on elvis
vii. mtv get off the air
this is when i started using the 'opposite color' as a sorta highlight because the mtv logos i used both had a pink as a highlight and i was like oh i really like that contrast. and then i went back and added it over jock o rama and holiday in cambodia
viii. pull my strings
this is taken pretty much directly from a mini(er? idk its like a fourth of a page) zine i made about the whole song. only thing i added was the band but i really like that addition
viiii. setlist
i had to add this because i was determined to not have to include the titles in yhe actual page (⬅️ tried this in an earlier iteration and did not like it) but i dont really have like. design notes on it or anything

Interactive zine for the @zinebash interactive challenge! A double-sided minizine designed to loop/sort of read backwards and trap this poor jogger in a torment nexus. Unless! You follow their instructions, unfold the zine, and flip it over to give them a break. A very fun challenge to do, so thanks to the organizers for letting me turn in a little late. Shoot me a message if anyone would like print files to print their own interactive version
