July is International Zine Month. I’ve been buying a lot of zines for myself and for our library collection in May and June so I would rather spend the month making zines. (Though there is an art book fair later in the month where I plan to spend some $$)
I made a zine bingo card (or a zingo card) for the year, adding the ones I’ve already made.
The zines I haven’t made yet:
- research/science
- dreams
- story or stories
- reviews
- illustrated poem
- witchy perzine v. 2
- fanzine
- epistolary
- bilingual
- design a workshop -> zine resulting from it
- poetry chapbook
- music
- childhood
- solo rpg
I have one I started the other day inspired by someone’s zine on reddit that uses journaling prompts. I started using the usual 8-page zine fold then it grew into a double-sided 16-page zine using a single sheet. I just need to rewrite it on a fresh page and do a test copy. (I’m counting it as my free idea in the middle)
I made a couple especially to fill a spinner for a zine display at work (a colouring zine and a zine listing ideas) and will add this journaling zine to it too. Hopefully students will grab copies!
And then mid-month we’ll have a drop-in zine making session around lunch. I will see if I can make something in that time.
