6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?

Obviously, I haven't written many proper fics, but i've written a lot of short scenes, and there is a trend that i reserve any tropey goodness to modern aus. BUT hhtf takes the cake, it is a fun romcom filled with tropes, and I have so much fun writing it. I'm allowed to write all the side comments I want into the actual fic and not just as comments that I chuckle at when I edit! Also I love being able to use texts to push the story along, or add to the narrative/relationships between the characters, I think it helped define what Calliope's relationship is like with Bell and Harding, and Emmrich's with Neve and Lucanis in a v easy way. and I will utilise the hell out of it for other people too.

11: What do you like best about this fic?

It's so fun to write. Like I am always having a blast while writing it, like the only hard thing has been deciding when Emmrich and Calliope have sex (soon) and also, ways they can be messier. Also it gives me an excuse to read more romcoms because I can take notes of things to incorporate or beats i want to hit.

12: What do you like least about this fic

I do wish I maybe gave myself a little longer to marinate the first couple of chapters, but also, I was going insane by not writing this fic it was consuming every waking thought. Otherwise, I've thought that maybe I should have written it in first person? but then I think about writing in first person and cringe so no lol.

So basically I was looking for a writing warm up and found one that mentioned library in the prompt and I was like fantastic 👏

It ended up running away with me since I was playing into the cryptbaby headcanons with the Necropolis protecting Calliope. I also ended up making her pregnant but I have no idea if that is actually in her and emmrich's future so it is au for now.

The library—possibly the largest vault in the (catalogued) reaches of the Grand Necropolis of Nevarra—was missing. Again. And it was the sixth time in three months. After Calliope’s return to Nevarra—as the exiled librarian who saved the world through sheer determination and luck—the oversized mausoleum decided to overreact. Initially, after semi-returning from her forced sabbatical, her adventures in the Lost Watcher’s Wings had caused a few incidents where rooms and chambers appeared and disappeared at will. Nevertheless, they were usually found shortly, usually by Calliope, aided by a wisp.

Since officially moving back after the defeat of Elgar’nan, the Necropolis seemed to be playing a cosmic joke on her. It began with slowly moving her old apartment closer and closer to Emmrich’s apartment on the upper levels. It had ramped up in the past few weeks, despite her not spending much time within her old room anymore and instead preferring the company of her fiancé and Manfred. Moving the library again, however, was the straw that broke the nuggalope’s back. On Wednesday, it had taken well over three hours for her to locate the library, which had moved exactly two floors up, and left poor Audric distressed when Calliope didn’t show up that morning. However, there was a slight perk—Thursday and Friday had proved to be a quicker commute, with it taking less than half an hour to walk there. So, of course, today, when she decided to forego using the lifts, instead taking the stairs, was the day the library moved again.

I won't screenshot it, while I could find it, I'll just describe it: the "Circle of Magi is a cult" and the flanderization of Wynne's character because of it. This is not in defensive of the Circle, or claiming Wynne has no faults or issues with her writing, but I felt that was such a stretch, and using this read of the Circle to further mischaracterize her lmao. Wynne is a pretty complex character that, I've speculated with this fandom, give her such a bad faith reading despite the fact she's as much a victim as other mages are, is because she's not a 20-something white guy you can kiss so they don't give her the time of day. Wynne is a 60~ year old woman that has not left the tower in literal decades, and is only permitted to leave to go fight in a literal war. She has a child that was taken away, and she's just left to live with that, and has canonly! thought about what kind of person they grew up to be (which is tackled in Asunder but prior to that). She has seen countless mages go missing, and can only imagine what befell them, mages she's likely trained! herself!!!! (I think also reducing the Circle and its host of problems down to "a cult" erases the nuance of why it exists, both in lore and out of lore writing wise. And...attaching "Cult" to a fictional group without much nuance as well.)

18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on... - Dragon Age

No idea if this counts, because it's not even a fully realized character, but "Tabris", not the Warden but wherever the Tabris family got their name from. Lore implies an Emerald Knight, or a carryover from a Dalish clan. Like Whats Going On There. If that doesn't count, then The First Warden because my god that guy is up to some shady shit, what's he gonna DO.

23. ship you've unwillingly come around to - Dragon Age

I had to think about this, and don't have any major changes in ships, but...Oghren/Warden? Specifically Amell/Surana? Maybe? I've thought about the dynamic of two people stepping foot into a whole new world and trying to find common ground and learn together. Maybe romantic, maybe platonic, I just really liked the idea. I also saw Wynne/Shale once, and that's a great one.

I also always thought “looking respectfully” was like, “I am appreciating you as an aesthetically attractive human but I am not genuinely hitting on you”. I find I’m more likely to use it with people I don’t know as well, because I trust my friends to not take it the wrong way, meanwhile “looking disrespectfully” is more explicitly sexual lol.

I tend to prefer a more ambiguous WOW WHAT A BABE 🔥🔥🔥 in any case anyway and trust me you are incredibly babing like. just looking through your selfie tag again and your aesthetic is just very 😍😍 like it’s so confident and rocking and co-ordinated !!
