Thoughts On My House
Since housing recently came out, I thought I would delve into why I think that my house is the right fit for me. As you may know, I was assigned a single in Ziskind.
*Little disclaimer- since I’m not on campus yet, I obviously don’t have a full picture of what my house experience will look like, or if Ziskind will ultimately be the right house for me. At this time, however, these are my feelings. I’ll update throughout my four years at Smith on how I feel about my housing situation(s).
1. Air Conditioning- While this may seem a bit odd, I am relieved to be in one of the two houses on campus with air conditioning. I’m a bit of a wimp, and I think having a climate controlled space will make it easier for me to sleep and generally exist during warmer parts of the school year.
2. Location- Located in Center Campus, both the school and downtown Northampton are fairly accessible. I didn’t want to be too far from my classes (such as the quad is) and I think Ziskind is in a pretty ideal location.
3. The Amenities- While some prefer the charm of the older houses on campus (which I can understand!), Ziskind has a nice kitchen and spaces to hang out. Also, coming from California, I’m used to the more mid century style that the house is.
4. The Windows- The dorm rooms in Ziskind are really large, which I love. I really wanted a lot of natural light in my room so the windows are a big plus.
