zoeyposthuman replied to your post “like i get the whole free the nipple thing and not wearing a bra but...”
That's your problem, not theirs.

Buffy/Willow/Faith
idk the context for this but anyway, Yes
zoeyposthuman replied to your post “The thing about the Olympics is that, no matter how shitty you feel...”
It's going to be a disaster. The government went corrupt af, a lot of the places for both competition and housing are unfinished, the places that are built have been structurally unsound and have a little collapsing problem, half the tickets are unsold, there's massive civil unrest, and oh yeah Zika.
Yeah, I meant the Olympics in general as an event.
Unfortunately I am aware of all the issues with the stuff in Rio. :(
I’d be more concerned about the flesh eating bacteria in the water than Zika, though.
Well there is one way to wipe out a bunch of bigots building by building, but it's illegal.
omg. i just wanted to make it so assholes couldn’t talk to me or see me i did not mean actually murder them
why does everyone on this site have to take every joke too damn far
In that D&D ask, you used a rather racist term (not sure if you intended it as an acronym and just got unlucky). W*g was what it was.
I think it’s different in England, in Australia I and my dad’s family are wogs because of being Italian, the guy I was talking to is Middle Eastern and they get called wogs here too.
It was definitely used in highly derogatory context, more so for my father’s generation and prior than mine. I don’t personally know any wogs in Australia who don’t reclaim it. We often use it when talking about shared cultural habits.
I think you’re American yes? I’ve never actually heard an American use the term at all, I assumed you didn’t use it there. But yes, here is is very reclaimed. One of my dad’s favourite movies is called “The Wog Boy” as reclamation is extremely common.
Tho, let's be honest. Frozen is popular because the protagonists are white. If a movie with 99.99% POC characters did everything it did and more, and better, it wouldn't be as popular. OH WAIT THAT ALREADY HAPPENED. The only reason Lilo and Stitch wasn't as big as Frozen, even if it was big, is racism.
I don’t disagree with you at all. It was more widely advertised and hyped, had way more merchandising (still does) and rereleases. Disney CHOOSES all of that, and it’s deliberate.
I perhaps should have worded my rebuttal better, but I don’t retract anything I said, even if I think a few people may have misinterpreted my meaning. It is possible to read at least certain parts of Frozen as feminist, Elsa included. That doesn’t disregard the film’s many flaws -- it’s racism, poor musical numbers (they came up with ONE catchy song and milked it to death, lbr), lazy female character design (and whining that it’s because women are too hard to animate when every male character in that movie has distinguishable physical differences other than hair and eye color -- all of that shit is sexist in itself).
There’s plenty of stuff you can pick apart in that movie for being racist, poorly put together, even sexist, or failing utterly to work in a feminist reading of the material. But for a few points deliberately inserted into her character to make her more marketable for the Disney Princess line, I don’t think Elsa is one of them -- not any more than any OTHER white Disney Princess is, at any rate -- by virtue of Disney’s deliberate, racist marketing tactics.
