Zombie concept
Here is a bit of the development for this Zombie concept that I started on my Twitch channel.
Pablo Munoz Gomez
....
Hey just letting you know I wanna hear your zombie concept
Ok so while it's not 100% original, I'm really proud of my spin on it.
The zombie virus is loosely based on the Ophiocordyceps unilateralis fungus (the one that takes over bugs n stuff). Instead of just a fungus taking over, I wanted to play with how many mushrooms can communicate with each other.
So basically hivemind zombies, all connected through one main host, or Patient Zero. PZ is some random caver who was completely taken over by the fungi. Because I wanna be quirky, instead of being devoured, Patient Zero's main focus besides food is spreading as far as it physically can. So it migrated itself to Rugby, North Dakota (because Google told me that's the center of the North American continent) and is adamant about staying there despite scientists' efforts to remove PZ from the area. The thought process was like how the Zombie Ant fungus makes the ant go into obvious spaces so it'll get eaten by a bird.
Patient Zero is completely coherent, by the by. Part of the way the fungus decided to evolve was instead of rapidly consuming the host it instead releases a pheromone so while the host is completely aware of what is happening to them, they're fine with it because it's like a little happy chemical dump.
Another important thing for the concept is how coherent the fungus is the closer a zombie is to the host. A zombie in South Dakota is going to act very differently from a zombie in Texas or Alaska.
I know this is super rambly, dont be shy to ask clarifying questions because I really wanna go further into things but this is super messy already. I AM planning on doodling concepts to explain some of the things here a little better...
Fun fact;
A Werebeast doesn't have to bite you in order to turn you. Getting licked in the face/on an open wound will have the same effect as getting bit. Werebeasts turned in this way are generally more docile and friendly for reasons unknown, but are very much appreciated.
Oh, and most Werebeast aggression just comes from being really hangry. Feed them and everything should be fine.
interesting conspiracy, however one thing i may note is if a werebeast licked you, that wouldnt turn you unless it were on an open, bleeding wound.
Your idea is similar to an idea of a zombie, but i would think an infection or transmission needs to be transferred through the bloodstream. You can wipe saliva off but your done if it gets into your blood.
Also who doesnt become calmer after some food? Lol i mean i wouldnt complain over a good meal
