Would you grace us with more information about the Moth AU?
Perhaps... I'll give you a basic rundown of the setting / what leads up to the story's events.
Alright, so basically, this is another "Danny's family/friends die for good in TUE and clockwork doesn't save them" AU, which, at a first glance, is same old cookie cutter stuff. And in those AU's, most of the time Danny goes to Vlad or Clockwork right?
Well, for a long time I've always seen the idea of Danny going to Vlad and staying with him on his own accord to be.. really out of character regardless of the context [plus i straight up just dont like vlad], and Danny is very obviously not interested in going anywhere near Clockwork after this.
So what does he do?
He wanders the ghost zone for a pretty long time, maybe 4 months or so alone at the start? He doesn't go to anybody for help, he doesn't want to go to anybody for help, especially after what Clockwork 'did' to him.
I mean, how can he trust his other ghostly allies if one has already betrayed him so devestatingly? [not that it's entirely Clockwork's fault, but it's Danny we're talking about]
So he wanders around alone for a bit before he ends up running into Skulker on his island after he gets a little turned around.
So, after a pretty long skirmish, skulker finds out about the whelp's little problem, and it reminds him of something that he'd heard about a long time ago.
Desiree had told him of a very special wish granter- a race. If you can reach the 'highest point of the Ghost Zone', survive all its trials, and reach the light that illuminates the entire Zone, you'll be granted any wish you want, regardless of how outlandish or impossible it is. And as it turns out, that race is starting again very soon.
Skulker mentions this to Danny, and Danny's eyes practically light on fire, this is the chance he was looking for, a chance to bring his family and friends back! He begs Skulker to help him train for the race, and while at first, the hunter doesnt comply, Danny ends up coming back everyday to fight him anyways, and over time, Skulker starts giving him pointers and stuff.
Skip to about 3 months later, Danny's finished his training with Skulker, and they go their seperate ways. Danny heads to the starting point for the race [which skulker had pointed him in the direction of] and on the way hes stopped by clockwork, who tells him this isn't the right way to cope with what happened and that he would regret this.
Danny doesn't listen, he gets to the starting point, the race begins.
THAT WAS WAY MORE THAN I HAD MEANT TO PUT but, thats pretty much the prologue right there. i want to explore ghost culture and traditions and i thought.. why not a "cross country" race across the zone to get some of that good ghost culture content?
id explain more but thats gonna spoil the story itself. theres a lot of symbolism in this story as well so make of it what you will.
