I have just discovered Elementary and as a soon-to-be graduate teacher, it is one of the most personally relatable fics!! I love the way you've embedded real life #teacherproblems into the story. It's also low key every teacher's fantasy to meet their soulmate through school (or maybe it's just mine???). I'd definitely fall for teacher Niall, especially the way you've portrayed him.
HELLO! I’m so glad that you came across Elementary. It came about as an untitled one-shot, a little stress reliever for my own career life as an educator after I’d had a pretty terrible week, and then it turned into more than just the standalone piece. I’m so glad you can find Rolly and the gang relatable - she’s definitely the most “me” character I’ve written thus far. If I didn’t embed those real life #teacherproblems into this story, I’d probably lose my mind. Aside from that, they make the story feel authentic!
I had a very vague idea of a teacher fic rolling around in my mind ages ago, but it involved the idea of all these teacher fawning over Liam, the new librarian, but sadly it never wandered past a crumb in my mind. But back when I wrote the one-shot that ended up being the first chapter of Elementary, it was a music teacher that came to mind, and Niall seemed the best fit for an elementary school music teacher. He’s just got a way about him that says he’d be really great with teaching kids to appreciate and practice music. I’m happy that it fits well, that he seems to make everyone who’s come in contact with him (by way of being in the actual story or just a reader) fall in love with him. And I think that’s probably the fantasy of many teachers - to find love in their school environment - so I doubt you’re alone, my friend!
Thank you so much for reading! I’m so glad that you enjoyed it and can find some familiarity here! Good luck with finishing up school!
