Bio on Zsalto

Zsalto is a Hungarian artist, living and working in California. She studied molecular biology as well as art in Budapest, later she lived in Berlin, Boston and Barcelona. Right now she shares her time between cancer research at UC Davis and freelance illustration. She finds inspiration in nature, botany, wildlife, folklore and literature.

About the work:

Her original design called "Little Red Ridding Hood" is a hand painted mandala pattern with botanical and folklore elements, inspired by the deep lush forests of the magical world of Grimm tales. She used delicate and detailed brushwork and symmetry, combined with fresh greens to recall lazy summer afternoons from her childhood.
