i just wanted to doodle on him so here we are
Anyway (Gilbert Blythe)
The sun came through the trees in a hazy glow. The sounds of birds chirping filled the forest as did the sound of crunching leaves. Y/n was walking through the forest with her school items in hand.
She was walking on her own as she had not had anyone to walk with. She hummed to herself as she walked and a smile on her face as she felt the warmth of the sun on her skin.
She then heard a loud rustle of leaves and stopped in her tracks. She turned around and didn't see anything or anyone. She shook her head thinking it was maybe a squirrel or a bunny.
She began humming again and starting to walk. The leaves rustled again and she felt a soft tap on her shoulder which made her jump making her books fall in the process.
Y/n knelt down to pick up her books. "Sorry! I didn't mean to scare you." She heard a familiar voice say as they helped her pick up her things.
They handed her books towards her and she looked up. Gilbert Blythe was looking back at her. He was smiling at her brightly to where his eyes crinkled. Her eyes widened and she immediately blushed.
She had always tried to avoid him at school due to the fact that he was off limits. Ruby, another classmate has had a crush on his since forever and whenever someone would talk to him she would freak out.
She snatched the book away from him and began to speed walk. "Wait!" He yelled after her and caught up with her. "Let me walk with you." He said softly which made her heart slowly melt.
They walked in silence and this time it was complete silence. No birds chirping and no leaves rustling. Which just made it more incredibly awkward that it already was.
The school soon came into sight.
Gilbert kept looking at Y/n as if he wanted to say something but then he would look away. They came up to the steps and he held the door open for her. She nodded at him in thanks and walked in.
She put her scarf and jacket on the racks by the door. Gilbert went over to his friends and Y/n sat down in her seat that was next to Josie Pye who wasn't really her favorite person in the world.
Josie gave her a death glare while Y/n looked straight ahead avoiding her gaze. Josie then whispered into Y/n's ear, "Watch what you're doing. Or you'll regret it." She whispered softly and Y/n sighed.
She then felt someone's eyes on her.
She looked over and Gilbert was looking at her with a small smile. She then quickly looked away from him. She looked back up and saw Ruby looking at the both of them sadly.
It was now recess and Y/n was sitting under a tree reading one of her favorite books. She flipped the page and heard someone clear their throat. She looked up and saw Gilbert smiling down at her. âHey.â He said and she just ignored him. She kept reading as if he wasnât there.
He then sat down beside her and she could smell a sort of woodsy smell mixed with vanilla that made her heart suddenly race. âHow come you never talk to me?â He asked as he watched her flip the page.
She still didnât say anything as he just stared at her. He then grabbed on her hair teasingly and she looked up. He gave her a smirk and she looked over to the window where Josie was with Ruby who was looking at the both of them sadly.
Y/n stood up then hit Gilbert in the face with her book and he sat dumbfounded.
âLeave me alone.â Y/n said firmly and walked away leaving Gilbert in shock. Y/n headed back into the school house and all the girls immediately approached her. âI told you to stay away from him.â Josie said while Ruby stood behind her wiping her tears.
âI keep ignoring him but-â Y/n said but then shut up automatically as she was pushed to the floor. She felt the hard impact of the floor on her back. She looked up to see Josie looking down at her with a smirk. âWhat do you think youâre doing?â Y/n heard and looked to see Gilbert. He kneeled down beside Y/n.
âAre you ok?â He whispered and she just nodded. He then helped her up and looked back at the girls who didnât look too happy. âWhat is this about?â Gilbert questioned as he looked between Y/n and the girls. âItâs nothingâŠâ Y/n replied sadly and Josie nodded acting as if nothing was wrong.
Gilbert then turned to Y/n and placed his hand on her shoulder to comfort her. âItâs not nothing if youâre crying.â He said softly and at this moment she hadnât even realized that there were tears rolling down her cheeks. She wiped her tears, âJust drop it, ok?â She said and then moved his hand away from her shoulder.
Y/n then went outside and went back to her tree where she was sat before. She looked up at the clouds that were in various shapes. She then felt someone sit beside her, âI said leave me alone.â She said angrily. âThey told me what happened.â Gilbert sighed and she looked at him.
âIâm sorry they put you through that. Itâs ridiculous. Iâm not some item, Iâm a human being.â He said and Y/n nodded and sniffled. â Plus, I donât even like Ruby. I only just saw her as more of a sister. I have eyes for someone else.â He revealed and looked into her eyes.
As they stared at each other, Y/n could feel her heart beat faster and faster. âAnyway.â He said slowly and she cleared her throat, âAnyway.â She replied and then their teacher came outside to signal that recess was now over.
They headed inside and Gilbert followed Y/n to her seat where Josie was glaring at the both of them. âLet me walk you home later, ok?â he whispered into her ear and she nodded. She felt her cheeks become warm from how close they were. Gilbert sat back down in his seat but still admired Y/n from afar. He couldnât wait to walk her home.
Just saw the âEvery Dayâ movie because the Philippines has it two days earlier than the U.S.
I canât say if itâs a faithful adaptation as I havenât read the novel. I liked it to some degree, but part of me has already outgrown high school drama and sentimentality. So Iâll just write down what I thought of the movie and its contents.
Good premise, at least itâs not overpreachy about the âwe love who we loveâ thing. The dialogue where they talk about if they can have a future is really something. (I know that the person who wrote the script also wrote the script for âMe and Earl and the Dying Girlâ which Iâm not really a fan of.)
Things Iâll say I disliked about the movie:
1. I think it got off to an awkward start. It does make sense to explain to the audience the mechanics of Aâs predicament when Aâs telling Rhiannon rather than have A explain it in the beginning for us THEN explain it again (this time to her, because repetition of backstory is bad storytelling) but in the beginning, I was honestly like, âWait, what?â
2. I adore Debby Ryan (because I was a Disney Channel kid even when I became of age) but her character really didnât serve much purpose outside of the car rides.
3. Which leads me to my next point: it was supposed to become an issue when Rhi told Jolene her parents about the âdating different peopleâ thing and then itâs supposed to become an issue in school as well, but then this is forgotten at once. Sheâs pretty much forgotten from this until the mom confrontation where we see clips of her crying, but for what reason? Bad editing.
4. I think it was slightly hinted that Rhiâs mom is cheating on her dad after her dadâs mental breakdown? Thereâs this whole âGuess what, Mom? Heâs not the same and youâre not the same, eitherâ argument and arc that didnât close properly, nor was that entire thing a compelling investment of our time, either. Dropped like a hot potato. Once she says that, we only see her mom one more time and thatâs to wake her up. We also donât see the Dad after that. So you can say that my issues on 3 and 4 were that the supporting characters and the supposed subplots were poorly handled.
5. Thereâs little consequence (or little showcase of it) of Rhi rendezvousing with A like, every day. It made it look like it was natural for this world (or at least for her) to cut classes all the time or stay outside later than expected. One scene where the teacher accepts her project/paper/school requirement, and thatâs it. SHE GETS AWAY WITH IT because the teacher says he is nice. Thatâs the only academic struggle for her, which was resolved quickly.
6. Did Orion ask Instagram to sponsor the production budget for this? Instagram -- where they chat, where A saves the peopleâs pictures and so on. And if the special mentions of IG (and Reddit) werenât enough, WE GET MONTAGES WITH INSTAGRAM FILTERS. WHOOPEE. Iâve long accepted and forgiven it when the phone becomes a useful tool for means of communication and to speed up the pace, but I still havenât warmed up whenever they reference Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (despite being an active user of those three platforms myself).
7. Oh sure, we have the transgenders, the non-whites and the non-hot versions of A, but Rhi still makes love and have long make-out montages with the hot male versions (bed scenes with the white males only!). Jacob Batalon deserved better after his Spidey: Homecoming stint (his scene was one of the turning points, though). Guess weâre still not prepared for girl-on-girl make-out scenes. Also, no-exercise Michael actually looked like he hit the gym for some time.
So, Iâd say, itâs not bad, but itâs not something that you have to rush to theaters for. I liked it as much as I liked Before I Fall, which also doesnât scream âmust have on DVDâ but, hey, why not give it a try.
