The Zur En Arrh Protocol
The idea was always there for Bruce to create some form of protection for his mind, a possibility as he traveled and heard of telepaths and mind control but never thought it would be needed. But after his first few years of being Batman and having his mind hit with so many experimental gases and toxins, It was time he made his mind more secure.
After exposure to a experimental gas from Professor Achilles Milo, Bruce saw a version of Batman from another world. A colorful and all powerful Batman with the powers of Superman and was smiling. A stark contract to what he build Batman to be. Bruce felt his mind was invaded and turned against him. He needed to make sure he could not be used for evil or his body be used as a weapon. He needed a safety. A Failsafe. A way to make sure if someone attacked his mind, he could defend it like blocking a attack n the real world.
So after months of ‘treatments’ and mind reconditioning, Bruce made success and slowly remapped his mind and created a backup personality. A version of him that would be activated when his mind was invaded. A security system against mind control and telepaths. Modelled after the Batman he saw in his vision.
And for some reason, it latched to the last thing Thomas Wayne said and the name from Bruce's vison. Zorro In Arkham. Zur En Arrh.
But it took a experience with the Joker to fully make this contingency plan work. This 'Backup' seemed to lack Bruce's compassion and need to help, Just hallow and blind RAGE and MADNESS. It tried to kill the Joker but failed.
Zur was finalised and sealed away, only to be used in emergencies.
Bruce made sure NO ONE knows the trigger phrase. A rare few found it but he keeps it a deep dark secret.
