kind of annoying how the miraculous wiki just spoils everything i mean,

it genuinely baffles me when people jump to writing adrien as if he cant learn from his mistakes, as if hes abusive, as if he has no compassion and only cares about what he wants

he gets carried away as chat, yes, and i wish hed snap out of that as well, but plain old adrien agreste? hes just not that kind of person.

he was raised to shut up and look pretty. of course hes not going to be outspoken about lila, he has to maintain that perfect pretty model boy persona. i dont think im too far off the mark by saying adriens the kid who thinks hes the mature one but really he was forced to grow up fast, so he tries to handle things in what he thinks is a "grown up" way.

and to an extent, as much as we dont like it in regards to lila, hes kind of right. his solution(at first) is to seperate yourself from drama thats eating away at you. not engaging in things that are taxing for your mental health is such an adrien agreste thing to do because of his upbringing. he couldnt yell at people and out them when theyre being terrible to him or other people, hes had to find other ways to cope

when he does engage lila its because he sees that method did not work, and marinette is still getting hurt over the whole thing.

i get drama is the center of fanfiction, i really do, but im just tired of seeing fics that relentlessly punish him for this. the way i see it, the shows writing is setting up adrien as a ticking time bomb. he WILL blow up..catastrophically eventually, and honestly, wouldnt that be much more fun for drama?

as for his actions towards ladybug as chat, i do wish hed own up to them and learn and move on(or at least not actively pursuing her every second) but i feel that would play into adrien losing it as well and apologizing after the fact to ladybug that he "was finally set free, but my freedom doesnt matter if [ladybug] feels uncomfortable around me"
