cleo looked down at the page, furrowing his eyebrows before he started to speak. “why do you need the beak to be a heart? does it have to be realistic or is it just a metaphor? either way, it doesn’t have to be blatantly obvious it’s a heart. the heart is what keeps us alive so if you want to make it clear on what it is, maybe center the entire bird around the beak.”
“ cause that’s how she asked, i mean look at these i drew earlier.” he pulled the pages from the back of the pile, which were clearly much better and more intricate than those that he was drawing. “ i mean i quite like this one.” he gestured to one that resembled an actual heart- not the type that was drawn everywhere- with flamingos intwined in the design. “ but she weren’t into it.”

the snap from the boy struck a nerve in the girl, but her curiosity for what he was working on got the better of her anyway. begrudgingly, she sat down and crossed her legs as she leaned in to see what he was huffing about. “flamingos….right,” she pretended to agree, but she really couldn’t find it in her to sound sincere. “well, one, why the hell are you drawing flamingoes, and two,” she started before digging into her bag and pulling out a flask, “here you go,” she finished, handing it to him.
his eyes drifting to the flask, a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. taking the item from her he glanced at it for a moment. “ you’re not gonna drug me are you? what’s in it?” he said as he unscrewed the cap, taking a few gulps before screwing it shut again and handing it back to her- not even giving her a chance to answer his questions. “ cause the woman wanted flamingos in a heart, don’t judge me, not my idea.”
sukiisms.
she glances down at the drawing that he’d looked so concentrated on moments prior, raising a brow as she jutted out her bottom lip and nodded her head in approval. “well, it’s better than anything i could ever draw.” she assures him. “a bit cliche though, for my taste.” she decides as she sits back in her chair, her eyes still on the dark haired boy in front of her. “are you an artist or something ?”
looking to his drawing as she spoke he uttered a small smile to himself. “ thank you?” he arched a brow, unsure as to whether to take her comment as a compliment or not. “ i’m a tattoo artist, so yeah basically. i’m more into abstract and going with the flow though.”

there’s a pause that hangs in the air between them as mason slouches down in the seat beside him, all the while sucking back a pull of his coffee and hardly offering a wince at the bitter slide of it past his tongue. “i’m not dr. phil by any means, but i’d say there’s something nipping at your ‘nads.” a second pause, albeit shorter than the first. “i’m not planning on asking any questions, either.”
the silence between the two gave tahoe a few moments of peace, compared to those who were sat in front of him before who didn’t stop muttering on about their previous night out- laughing and being all round annoying. “ well i’d have to say you’re right, not nipping though- got a good old grasp on my nads. this design has to be done in the next hour.”

— “I DO, yeah.” noelle returned his smile, before leaning in, welcoming his invitation to voice her opinion. sage eyes scanned the artwork, but trailed up and back to his features. “what kind of stuff are you used to designing then? because i mean, i– i just don’t see how they couldn’t like it. is it for like, a t-shirt or?”
“ tattoos, i’m not used to designing like this- though.” he shook his head, annoyed at the fact that one design had gotten him to such a point of stress. “ by that i mean i usually get to just draw what i want, and people usually love it. but this time someone specifically said they want flamingos in a heart of some sort.”

Everything was so packed everywhere that Bentley went. She couldn’t catch a break, she had to try to make things work out. At least get a seat so she could drink her coffee and try to wake up before she had to be at work. Biting on her bottom lip gently, she took the seat the boy said was open. She was just about to take a drink before hearing the boy speak up and she looked at him. He looked angry and Bentley didn’t like whenever people were upset. “Um, may I ask what’s wrong?”
his head between his hands, the brunette shoved his hand into his shaggy hair-ruffling it slightly as he tugged at the ends. “ this design is stressing me the fuck out.” he tried to keep his answer short and sweet as his eyes were trained on the page in front of him, drawing usually came with ease to him- but when he was being told what to draw; it was a completely different story.

“nope,” he popped down into the seat with a smile. he took a sip of his tea before he leaned forward. “anything i can do to help that? i’m not a great at drawing but maybe if you talk it out i can help with words?” he offered.
sliding the paper towards him-that had been ripped from the pad, he spun it around so that the page was the right way around to the other. “ i’m tryna make the beaks look like a heart but it just doesn’t seem to pan out, that bird on the right always ends up going fucked up.” he rolled his eyes as he began to trace out another.
sukiisms.
suki raised a cautious brow as she slid into the seat across from the raven haired boy. his concentration on the task at hand was apparent, a steady hand pressing harshly on the notebook paper in front of him. she stayed silent for as long as she physically could, but suki was a natural talker, so holding her tongue was only plausible for so long. “what are you drawing ?” she finally asked, leaning forward on her elbows over the table to catch a glimpse of the paper.
after drawing his eyes back to the paper in front of him, he was unaware that the girl had actually taken a seat in front of him. his ears perking up at the sound of her voice, his head shot up to meet her glance. tilting the page towards her so she could see the task at hand, he began to respond. “ well- i’m trying to draw two flamingos, their beaks joined together in a certain way to look like a heart.” he paused, his eyes moving to the page beneath him. “ but honestly it’s gonna take me a while to perfect this one.”

he had had a long night, and the dark circles under his eyes that he hid behind dark sunglasses were the proof of it. tobias wouldn’t complain about the that, he just wished he didn’t have to wake up early the next day. he would forever be thankful for coffee. just the smell of the fresh brewed dark liquid was enough to make him a little more alert as he tried to find a seat at the packed coffee shop. “thanks, man,” he replied sitting opposite the young man that seemed preoccupied. “you okay there? what did the poor paper ever do to you, dude?” he asked, quirking a blond eyebrow.
his eyes drifting around the crowd for a moment, they settled on the tall blonde who had now graced the seat in front of him. “ the paper is being shitty and wont let me draw right.” he shook his head rapidly as he shut his eyes for a moment. he’d never been this stressed over a design before, but considering that he knew it was the womans first tattoo he had to ensure that it would be one she wouldn’t regret.
fckeden.
the voice caught the blonde’s attention as she noticed the boy’s frazzled demeanor. he was clearly working on something important, and he was also clearly not doing a good enough job. she looked him up and down before her head swiveled to the chair he seemed to be referring to. “was that an invitation for me to sit down, then?” she grinned, a quiet laugh escaping her lips. she couldn’t lie, she was definitely intrigued. without hesitation she continued. “fuck what? what needs to be fucked? what are you working on?” she fired off in succession, hoping he’d answer.
“ not an invitation, you’ve been staring at it for about five minutes so if you wanna sit- sit.” he rolled his eyes, huffing as he flipped the page in his notepad and began to draw again. “ this design needs to be fucked, i finally got settled on a design which was perfect and it wont work out. each time one flamingos smaller, the next time ones completely deformed- honestly it can just get fucked. i need a drink.”

cleo was glad to have his days off but it meant more audition time. he was glad that the indie film he was in was catching up steam but it still meant that he needed his bar-tending job. well another audition was later thankfully so he headed to his normal coffee shop. seeing the familiar face, cleo got his tea and headed towards the seat next to him. “stressed?” he chuckled, glad that his tea was sweet. “having issues designing?”
“ oh hey man, you not working today?” he half mumbled, not registering what the other had said as he began to rummage through his backpack for his other pens. eventually catching on, he muttered a response. “ kinda, i’ve got the designs up here.” he gestured to his forehead, putting his hand back into his bag quickly. “but my hands just aren’t getting their shit together, i feel like a five year old trying to draw a dog.”

it’s unusually crowded in the coffee shop he frequents, but he isn’t about to backtrack all the way to his apartment so he searches for a free spot somewhere in the vicinity. lucky for him, he finds one near someone who looks way too preoccupied to actually attempt conversation. perfect. plopping down into the seat, he places his coffee on the table next to him and begins unwrapping his breakfast sandwich. “that’s a cool design, dude. wouldn’t give up on it just yet.” he comments as he takes a bite of the food in his hand.
not even paying attention to the other that had sat down he continued his attempt to draw out new designs. the noise of cups clinking sounding louder than ever as he raised a hand to his forehead. bringing his eyes towards the person who’d began speaking to him, a smile appeared on his face. “ thanks, man. y’know when you’re just having a fuckin’ off day and you feel like your pencil doesn’t wanna draw.” he was aware of the garbage coming from his mouth, but the boy decided maybe having some sort of rant could help him out.

“ what’d they look like exactly? i’d love to give them the cold hard truth. ”
“ it’s some woman in her late twenties?” he spoke with scepticism, genuinely unsure of the womans age. “she’d better be happy with this fuckin’ thing- the time it’s taking me.”

— “ THANKS. ” A slight nod of her head, sinking into the seat nearest him, careful not to spill the hot , tall cup of black coffee she had recently ordered. Bringing the brim to her lips, she peeked over at the strangers, noticing the paper, the pen, the over all frustrated aura he seemed to give off. Lourdes tilted her head slightly, raising an eyebrow at him. “So,” she started, “struggling artist trying to come up with your next piece? Or are you a writer trying to reach a deadline? working on a screen play? a blog post? gossip column? Which is it? You look stressed.“
nodding towards the girl his eyes drew back to the paper in front of him, drawing with a steady hand as he attempted what seemed like his millionth design. after another minute or two he reached for his cup and took another gulp, deep breaths in between his actions. “i’d say i’m closest to struggling artist, tryna design a fuckin’ tattoo for one of my clients. i feel like today i can picture my ideas fine but my hands just not co-operating.”
