Hi, i've never watched Taiga dramas before, but i'm interested at starting them. Which one are the best to start with, for beginners such as myself?

hiya! I am actually very new to taiga dramas too. I only created this blog to document my journey watching them, yet I'm doing a terrible job of posting on this blog 😂 I liked Dou Suru Ieyasu? (2023) for its story and big, triumphant, emotional scenes. although I did lose interest during the second half of the story shhh

I'm also watching Idaten (2019) at the moment and I've been having so much fun with every episode. this one is a lot more contemporary (post-war) so it is an easy watch! I highly recommend it, but I don't think it would give you an idea of what the usual taiga dramas are like haha... maybe good for a second pick?

or you can start Toyotomi Kyoudai! (2026) which is airing right now! episode 10 will air this sunday if you're open to the idea of watching something as it airs

hello 👋 for some reason I couldn't find this ask in my inbox so maybe one of us is shadowbanned? thankfully this blog is run by multiple accounts of mine so I was able to answer you after logging into another account. :)

and no, I have not. I watched this other non-taiga drama called fukurou to yobareta otoko (2024) and apparently nakano hideo was in it? but since I retained nothing from the drama, I don't think it counts. I'm aware nakano taiga appeared in a few other taiga dramas but I haven't watched them either. I really need to step up my game with old dramas! ^.^ still working my way down the franchise
