The Beginning
@taikisses left a spark ~
「 When the day had started, Kimiko had promised herself a ‘normal’ school day. The last thing she expected was an underclassman to completely flip her plans. 」
It all started with a spark. Kimiko usually wasn’t one to pay attention to those who passed her by, focusing on herself or whatever was in her hands at the time. A surefire way to attract her attention, apparently, was a blur of black, emitting a spark in the back of her brain. However, by the time she turned to meet the person who sent such a reaction through her spine, the blur had disappeared…
“Welcome to the Gardening Club! My name is Fumihiko Mizuki, and I’m the president of this club. Beside me is Akibara Kimiko, my second in command.”
Her feet take her a step forward as she’s introduced, bowing slightly in greeting. Induction usually started with the introductions of the third years, before the first years introduce themselves and chose their mentor to start them off. A strange tradition started by the President before them that they’ve simply run along with, seeing as most first years who join the club have no clue about the best ways to make sure their plants do sprout up and grow.
It gives them a chance to grow, as well.
“Alright, now that all previous club members have been introduced, it’s your turn! We’ll start with... You!”
Kimiko’s eyes lift to meet the icy blues of a particular student, two black pigtails tied behind them. Again, she feels that spark just hours before– Eyes widing in slight disbelief.
( What did these sparks even mean…? )
“Ara ara... We sure have some cute ones joining us this year, don’t we?”
It’s no surprise that she receives a nudge in the gut from the Club President.
『 It was supposed to be the first day of high school, the life-changing First Semester in a future adult’s life- and in a way, she supposed it was. Just....not how she had initially assumed. 』
YOKO doesn’t think anything of it at first- after all, the upperclassman is pretty, and movies always describe a first crush as a spark, so the sharp flicker that courses through her mind is written off as an interest in the beautiful girl she had happened to pass in the hallway.
AND so she ducks away, into her classroom, unintentionally hiding and wondering if maybe that upperclassman had felt the same.
THE gardening club; there’s an irony in the fact that Yoko had followed - not stalked - her upperclassman into the one club she had been interested in joining. Maybe it’s fate, but Yoko just writes it off as amazingly good luck, something she’s not exactly known for.
AND so she peeks shyly at the third year - Akibara Kimiko, Yoko’s sure to remember the name - during the introductions, always looking away when it feels as if those bright blue eyes might meet hers.
FOR a split second, though, they meet, right as Yoko is gestured at, and that spark flickers through her mind once again, this time causing her to trip up, mentally and physically, stumbling slightly as she bows, still trying to smile through her mess up-
“I-I’m Hanasaki Yoko from Toukawa middle! Please take care of me!”
SHE’S pretty sure she botched something up.
