After finally becoming a fully fledged Pro-Hero, Yui fulfills her dream of flying side-by-side with Hawks. However, the jump from fan to fellow pro-hero isn't as easy as it seems!
Notes: This was just a really quick fic. Didn't proofread really deeply, so XD. Sorry if it's too cheesy, but yeah. Enjoy, I guess.
“You know, you shouldn't make it a habit, gawking at me like that.”
Yui blinks. She hadn't realized how much she'd been staring at the Pro-Hero beside her until he'd called her out on it. It was her first patrol with him, and she couldn't help but be starstruck. Flustered, she stutters out an apology. “Ah, I'm sorry, Hawks!”
Hawks laughs it off. “I know I used to be your idol, but we're both pro-heroes now. We're on the same level. You shouldn't keep looking up to me.”
“Right," the rookie turns her gaze right back to the city below. Hawks can't help but smile at the way she hastily followed orders. Too cute.
"Hey, you're still allowed to look at me," he flaps his wings, letting himself glide into the airspace in front of her. "I just meant that you've gotta start seeing me as I am: another fellow hero!"
"Ah," Yui nods along, her goggles falling crooked in front of her eyes, "Right--You're right, I know, I just… Thing is, I've been looking up to you for so long, y-know?"
"Yeah, I know, I still have fan letters from seven years ago from you."
"What— you kept those?!" Yui covers her face, flushed bright red from embarassment. "Oh god!! Throw those away!!"
"Why? What kind of hero would I be if I threw away my fans' precious feelings?" he flies up to her again, taking her hands in his and tilting his head so he can see her. She still can't meet his eyes. "I know this isn't easy. I mean, I felt the same way when I started working with Endeavor the first time. But, hey— I want to help make it as easy as possible for you! Wanna know why?"
"Why?"
"Because this has been your dream for a while," Hawks gently brings her to her feet. "You've been waiting way too long, looking up at me— Now, it's your turn to take to the sky! Come on, Yui!"
He falls back, taking her tumbling off the building with him.
"AAAAAH--YOU'RE CRAZY!!!" Yui screeches as she flaps her wings to catch the wind just in time. Hawks cackles, flying just below her, his wings causing just enough of an undertow that it carries her along on the breeze.
"Y-You jerk!" the rookie hero yells after him.
"That's more like it, Yui!"
Hawks lets out a little sigh of relief. She'd be out of her fan phase in no time.
Content: Hurt no Comfort, unrequited love, OC -> Izaya
Notes: Lol, of course, the first fic I post is about unrequited love. Hahaha... I wonder how long I'll keep this up? idk...
"A million people pass through Ikebukuro everyday. Of all those hundreds of thousands of interesting humans, why on earth did you fall for me?"
The informant watches as the convenience store clerk contemplates his question while staring out at the bustling crossing below.
"…It's hard to say," Kou sighs as they stare up at the starless city sky and lean against the railing. "How can I explain it? There's just something about you."
"How incredibly informative!" A sarcastic remark met with pensive silence.
"I guess it's a selfish kind of love," they continue.
"Selfish?"
"Yeah, selfish," they say, their gaze never leaving that dark sky, eyes straining to find even a bit of light. "You're everything I'm not… You've got skills and influence— the power to change things the way you want. You're free."
"Well, I wouldn't say that," Izaya counters. "When half the city wants to kill me, I can't agree with the statement of 'being free'. What you probably mean is that I'm not emotional, sentimental, and wreckless, like you."
Kou sighs. He was being honest, but it still stung— another reminder of how different they were.
"Kou-chan, have you ever thought that you might just love the idea of me?" Izaya cocks his head at them, inviting their argument.
"The idea of you, huh," Kou stares back at him. Him in all his seemingly untouchable demeanor. Were they truly in love with him, or was it just envy; imposter syndrome mistaken for aadmiration? It was possible.
"Maybe you're right," Kou sighs.
"Suggestible as ever," Izaya shrugs.
"Ugh"—they grumble, realizing they'd let him convince them against their own feelings. "No, the real reason is I'm stupid."
Izaya laughs at their self deprication. "Oh, stop that. You're not that stupid. If you were, I would have gotten rid of you."
They don't seem to be comforted by his 'reassurance'. The informant frowns a bit.
"To me, you're a guy who's above it all. You're ahead by a hundred steps, and you know just what to do to force an outcome— and you don't have to care about the consequences," Kou sighs. "Now that I'm saying it out loud, that's just all the things I want to do."
"So, now that you've thought about it, you love everything about me that you can't be?" Izaya chuckles, amused at their reasoning. "
"…" Kou was silent for a moment before answering. "It's not just that. It's just… you."
"How vague can you get, Kou-chan?"
"It's hard to put into words, okay?!" they exclaim, exasperated. "Why do you want to know, anyways?!"
"I think it's only natural to wonder why someone would fall for you," Izaya muses. "I've given no reason for you to fall for me. All I've done is help you along your silly little revenge plot for my own entertainment."
"…Well, you didn't have to do anything for me to admire you," Kou looks away again. They didn't need to see his face to know he didn't quite follow.
"It's going to sound stupid to you, but… I just like being around you. I like hearing what you have to say. I want to learn more about how you see the world." They stare out again at the vast darkness of the light polluted sky. "I guess it's like I'm living through you vicariously. You can push boundaries, wreak havoc on your opponents, revel in the chaos of it all…"
"Ah, that does sound stupid," Izaya chuckles softly as he leans against the railing beside them. "I'm flattered, but, you know by now the feelings aren't mutual."
"Yeah, I never expect them to be. I'm not that stupid," a self depreciating laugh follows.
"You said this was a selfish love, and yet you're not selfish enough to beg me for affection?" the informant chuckles. "I think you're just as confused as I am about your own feelings."
"You're probably right," the convenience store clerk steps back from the railing. "I guess saying something cheesy like 'I want to see you happy' isn't gonna work, right? Cliché love stories are definitely not your style… I could say I want to bring down the moon for you or make your wildest dreams come true, but what can a clerk like me do for you other than be a useful pawn? No… I'm not going to ask for something I know I don't deserve. I'm not going to give you love you don't want… so why do I still love you? …Because of you. That's all."
For a moment Izaya just stares at them, quiet as the city breeze blows. Then he scoffs… then he laughs… clapping at them as if they'd put on the funniest stand-up comedy routine.
"Wonderful performance, Kou-chan! I've never heard something so ridiculous in my life!"
Kou laughs to themselves dryly. As always, they were a joke to this man.
"Glad I could entertain you for now, Mr. Informant," Kou makes a half-hearted bow. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm taking this show somewhere else."
"Oh? I thought you'd hang out with me tonight," Izaya grins, "or did I spoil the mood?"
"Ah, no, but after this grand blunder, I doubt you won't get bored with anything else I have to say tonight," they turn on their heel and head for the rooftop door. Things would get worse if they stuck around any longer.
However, a ringed hand grips their wrist, just as they're reaching for the knob.
"Wait a second!"
Kou can't turn their face away fast enough to hide the tears streaming down their face.
"Oh, you're crying?"
Kou grits their teeth and yanks their wrist away. "Yeah, I know I look ridiculous, you don't have to tell me."
They shove past him and throw open the door.
"Aww, Kou-chan, at least let me comfort you! That's what you want, right?" Izaya steps in front of them. "Hey, Kou-chan, look at me—"
"I wish I never met you," they practically hiss at him, shoving him back.
The words were too sharp and too savage… especially from Kou. Izaya was shocked enough that he stumbled out of the way as the rooftop door slammed in his face.
Minutes pass. Kou had long marched themselves to the station, no doubt running away to the nearest host club to drink away their problems and cry to themselves. Typical behavior from a messy human. He wondered if they knew he loved that messy and extremely human part of them too.
"Wished you'd never met me, huh?" Izaya muses to himself. "So much for bringing down the moon for me… Kou-chan, you make no sense at all."
Me spending half a season summoning all the strength and audacity it takes to be a rabid yumeshipper and post the pages and walls of text and self imdulgent fanart so I actually have something to show for it other than reblogging pics of blorbos to character blogs...
Tomdachi Life Keeps Ruining my Angst?! I FEEL CONFLICTED.
If you know me and my OCs, you would know I make them pine. One-sided crushing and longing is what I deal in. Most, if not ALL of my yumeships are just an OC admiring a canon character from afar....
NOW TELL ME WHY THE CANON CHARACTERS ARE THE ONES THAT FALL FIRST?!?!?!?!
EVERY TIME, WHEN I WAS TRYING TO MAKE MY OCS CRUSH, IT WAS ALWAYS THE CANON CHARACTER THAT FELL FIRST SOMEHOW?!?!?!?!
WHAT?!
-- HOW CAN I MAKE MY OC LONG FOR THEM AT A DISTANCE NOW?!
FUCK------
In the end, my OCs got their damn happy endings, defying fate... Oh well. I guess they deserve it after everything I put them through.
