request from anon, "Currently on my period and suffering from cramps 💔💔 so id like to request a period comfort fic, preferably with woonhak but it doesn't really matter you can do whichever member you want💗💗"
woonhak x gn!reader, they are just friends they swear, (i made it about just being in pain/sick, instead of periods cuz all my readers will always be gn), swearing, inappropiate jokes, fluff, comfort, crack. i gave yn a varient of one of my past roommates from hell, also yn is lowk a slob (?), irresponsible amount of consumption of energy drinks.

The first thing you could find was a stale twizzler.
Then under the end of your blanket a bunch of pens and a notebook you thought that you had lost.
After that, the obvious random clothes you weren't sure when the last time you wore.
Still no phone.
With the determination of an iPad kid, you rolled around your bed dramatically throughout your bed, flipped through your mountain of a blanket, and flipoping it over again. Still no phone.
You had checked in your pillow case, the little space in between your mattress and the wall.
Nothing.
The pain in your head killing you, youflopped back to lie down and give up looking for your phone— until something vibrates under your bed.
You scramble to quickly grab your phone, but lazy enough that you don't actually need to get out of your bed.
Once you finally obtained it, you blink at the screen with blurry eyes.
3:02 pm.
You already missed all of you classes for today, usually you would feel guilty about missing., but not today.
Everything hurts, your throat feels like it's on fire. Your head feels like it hit a wall a million times. Your body ached like it hated you, and you hated it right now.
You basically accepted death this morning the second your alarm went off. You could feel your body now accpeting death again as you drift slowly to sleep— Another fucking vibration from your phone.
Woonhak (from the hallway) Calling
You answered not really thinking, "...Hello?"
His voice escaped the phone. "You sound dead."
"I am. What do you want?" You pick up the phone as you roll around in your bed again.
"I'm outside."
Rubbing your eyes, "Outside what?"
"You're dorm."
That statement wakes you up from your grogginess, "...Why?"
"Because you said you needed groceries and you're obviously not feeling well. Now come open the door." You frown trying to ponder why he knows your fridge is basically empty and you're not exactly feeling the most peachiest.
Then you remember why you must've dropped your phone under your bed earlier.
Maybe around noon, which is around a little break you have in between two of your classes, you got another call from Woonhak. He was asking about your wherebaouts since the two of you share a break and usually eat and hang together.
It actually became almost a habit, the two of you always gravitating for each others presence when you two have a common break. The past maybe one or two years you've known him, even if the shared break is fifteen minutes long, the two of you will see each other and get a quick drink at the campus' cafe.
The two of you never had a class together within the years of you knowing each other. You met him in a hallway, he was too busy trying to look cool, nonchalant and performative. Wired headphones, match in his hand, looking at his phone without a care in the world.
Until he turned a corner and bumped into you, spilling his matcha all over the two of you, and he completely lost his composure.
Apologizing non stop, asking if he could pay for your shirt due to the spill, practically begging for your number so he can repay you somehow. You didn't really care just gave it him anyway, somehow that got the two of you to be friends.
The make up 'date not-a-date' (whatever he called it) was him buying you a quick drink at a cafe during a shared break. That then just became a usual occurrence for you two.
So when you didn't show up today, he must've gotten worried.
You vaguely remember picking up the call and him asking about your whereabouts. You probably blabbered about not feeling well or the fact you haven't got anything to eat at your dorm.
"Yn, please." Woonhak's voice come through your phone.
"Okay," You grumble, getting out of bed and walking to the door felt like three years. Every step felt agonizing.
The dorm was the same as how it usually is: your dumb roommates' shoe in the sink. A sticky note you put on said roommates door asking her to buy toilet paper when it was running low. Mainly because most of your classes ended late and all the stores were closed by the time you got out.
But the stinky note is still there since she in fact did not fucking buy toilet paper and now you are in a dorm without food or toilet paper and the one day you don't end late, you're in horrible pain.
You unlocked the door, and got rather confused at the scene in front of you. "Woonhak?"
He stood there holding two grocery bags, behind him was Sungho with another bag, Riwoo balancing enough instant ramen for you to hibernate for the next winter, and Wonhee carrying—
"...Is that toilet paper?" Wonhee proudly light the giant pack.
"Yes I got two dozens." All you can do is just stare.
"...Why are there four of you?" You questioned.
Woonhak looked like he was going to explain until Sungho beat him to it. "Woonhak panicked."
"I did not panic."
Riwoo voice jumped in, "He absolutely panicked."
"He said," Wonhee dramatically cleared her throat, "Guys, Yn said they were dying and has NO food and No toilet paper."
"I did not sound like that." Woonhak grumbled.
Sungho nodded, "That's true, because you sounded worse. You made it sound like they were actually dying dying."
You really did not know how to respond to all that was just said. Before your brain could catch up and formulate a sentence— Woonhak shoved a small pharmacy bag towards you. "I got medicine, electrolyte drinks, and some soup with crackers."
You looked at the bag with the medicine, then towards all the bags of groceries. "You went shopping for me?"
"Yn, you literally said you had no food." A strange warm sensation settled in your chest.
"Thanks." Woonhak almost looked offended.
"Bro, of course. You said you felt awful," Woonhak lowered both his voice and head, "and you mentioned how your roommate didn't buy any toilet paper."
The others had began carrying the stuff inside, Sungho stocked the fridge, Riwoo placed the medicine on the counter, and Wonhee went directly to the bathroom to organize the newly bought toilet paper.
You're really grateful for your friends as right now with your pounding headache you would've just left all of the stuff at the doorway. Woonhak notices you rubbing your head and slips into your freezer to look for an ice pack.
"Thanks," You say grabbing it out of his hands and placing it on your forehead. Woonhak just nods and rubs your back.
You didn't realize the other three were done helping put things away until Sungho coughs into his palm and you look up to see all three of them staring at the two of you... they have a suspicious glint in their eyes looking at you two... whatever.
"We have class soon." Sungho announces.
Riwoo groans next to him, "Ugh, I forgot about that."
Wonhee looked between the two of you, Woonhak's hands both helping you hold the ice pack and gently rubbing your back, and a grim slowly spreads across her face. "You know, I think yn shouldn't be alone."
You hear Woonhak's breath spike next to you.
"Yn is all sick and lonely." You weren't really sure what she was getting at until— Wonhee grabs Woonhak by both of his shoulders. "You can keep him."
And she lets go of him by shoving him into you, Woonhak stumbles directly on to you, barely catching himself on you. Now he two of you are in a position of him hugging you.
You weren't really sure what was pounding harder your throbbing head or your heart.
Woonhak whines at Wonhee for pushing him, and you can hear Sungho and Riwoo giggle at each other.
"He skips half his classes anyway! Yn keep him."
Before you or Woonhak could respond— Sungho was already walking backward down the hallway. "We're leaving."
"Have fun." Riwoo gives Woonhak a thumbs up, you were rather confused because you felt unwell and there is nothing fun about it.
"You got this."
The apartment door closed.
You look at Woonhak, "Did they just abandon you?"
"...Yeah." Woonhak sighs.
You smiled weakly, "Can you hand me my water bottle?"
He nods and goes to get it. You swallowed your medicine they had just bought, while Woonhak wandered into your bedroom. "What the fuck."
He stood in the doorway for a moment, his backpack hanging from one hand.
There were energy drink cans scattered across your desk and floor. Some were upright and some others had rolled around your room, one was on your bed. You had empty cups on top of textbooks, tissues were everywhere. Crumpled besides the trash can, abandoned on your nightstand, a bunch on your bed. There were notebooks open on every available surface, the pages filled with half finished physics problems and scribbles, he assumed you gave up on those questions.
You had a hoodie discarded on your desk chair, another on the floor next to a lot of socks and one on your bed.
Woonhak slowly looked at you.
You had followed behind him into your room after taking the medicine, you were already back on your bed, curled underneath the blanket with your face buried in your pillow. You looked insanely exhausted to care about the state of your surroundings.
His eyes did another take around your room. "What happened in here?"
You had lifted your head, just barely to look up at him. "My room?"
Woonhak used his body to gesture at everything around in your room, he felt his expression said enough. You just gave a weak shrug before dropping your head back onto your pillow.
He sighed, he wasn't even annoyed, more exhuasted.
Setting his bag down on maybe the only place on the floor that didn't have one of your discarded clothing or tissues or cans. He starts cleaning.
He grabbed an empty garbage bag from under your sink in the kitchen and made his way back to your room. He started collecting the cans first... there was an insane amount. Then he came for the tissues, wrappers, anything you decided was too far from the trach that can be worht throwing out.
You were watching him clean from your bed with half-lidded eyes. You had a sad look in your eyes, like you were guilty he was doing all that and that they wanted to help him. But you also look like standing up was going to kill you.
Woonhak crouched beside your desk and reached for everything underneath. He found three empty energy drinks and a crumpled bag of Goldfishes.
He examined the bag. "This expired last year yn." He turned the bag over to show you the date on the back.
You cracked an eye open. "Expiration dates are just a suggestion."
He couldn't help himself, a laugh slipped out. "Gosh you are disgusting."
"I'm sick, be nice."
Woonhak shook his head and tossed the bag in the garbage. He moved on before you could say you weren't finish eating it.
The longer he clean, the more obvious it became that this wasn't a room that had become messy overnight. All of it was an accumulation of several weeks of being too busy, tired, or uninterested in dealing with any of this.
He gathered the loose papers into a pile, picked up all the clothes that were probably thrown on the ground in many moments of weaknesses. Doing so, he even found the carpet again, it was blue.
Eventually, he stood in the middle of the room with his hands on his hips. "I forgo you had a carpet."
You gave a tiny laugh— immediately dissolved into a fit of coughing. Your entire face scrunched up as you turned into your pillow, trying to muffle it.
Woonhak's expression changed, the amusement disappeared, replaced with quiet concern he had been trying not to show since he first saw you at your door.
He crossed the room and the water bottle closer to you, "Easy now."
You reached out for it without opening your eyes, taking a few sips before sinking back into your pillow.
Hoping the medicine would kick in soon to take the edge off, maybe it already has but you were too tired to even notice with how awful you were feeling. Your limbs felt insanely heavy, your body aching all over, but the warmth of the blanket settled over it.
Woonhak returned to cleaning when it looked like you were doing better.
For a bit the room was filled with small sounds: the rustle of paper, the scrape of a chair being moved, occasional clinks of energy cans colliding together.
Your breathing became deeper slowly, and by the time Woonhak had finish gathering all the trash in your room, you seemed barely awake.
He glanced over, your eyes were closed, your features gone soft. Probably becuase you weren't forcing yourself to stay awake anymore. One of your hands li loosely outside the blanket, curling against the sheets under you.
The dude couldn't help but smile to himself at the sight. He tied the bag shut and picked it up.
The room was completely different from when he first stepped into it today. It wasn't spotless by any means, he couldn't perform a miracle in one afternoon, but it looked livable. The floor was visible, your desk looks like you could actually use it.
He looked at you again, you haven't moved. He needed to go throw out the bag, but he really couldn't help but admire you.
A part of him was gratful for his friends, pushing him into a situation to be with you, alone.
But he knows they are doing this as a way to tease him at the same time. Apparently they were able to figure out about his crush on you due to how painfully obvious it was, whatever that meant.
So, he quitely turned towards the door, he had barely taken a step until something caught his wrist. He froze.
He looked down to find your hand loosely wrapped around his.
Your eyes were still closed, and for a moment, Woonhak just stoody still. Your fingers tightened slighty, not enough to stop him though. Didn't mean he was going to go now. "Don't go yet."
Voice of yours was barley audible, sleepy and rough. His heart strings were pulling him, tightening his chest.
He looked at the garbage bag in his other hand, then back at you. You shitfed beneath your blanket, making room beside yourself, all this without ever opening your eyes. "I don't want you to go."
There was something almost childlike about the way you had said it. Woonhak's expression softened.
He set the bag down by your door, and returned back to your bed. The second he sat down next to you, your body relaxed.
Your hand slipped from his wrist, to find his sleeve of his hoodie instead. Fingers curled around the fabric and tugged him closer with the little strength you had in you.
Woonhak had no time to react when you suddenly had shifted towards him and your head had found his shoulder. He went completely still. "...Are you comfortable?"
A tiny hum from you came as a response.
Woonhak hesitated for another second before casually leaning back against the headboard. You had followed the movement, settling against his side, making sure the blanket covered both of you.
Your wamth seeped through his hoodie, he could feel the slow rhythm of your breathing against his shoulder. He just really hoped you couldn't feel how fast his heart was beating for you right now.
He looked at you, your hair was a mess, there was a faint crease across your cheek due to your pillow, and somehow he still couldn't help but think you looked really good in that moment.
He gently brushed a strand of hair away from your face. You stirred a little. "Thanks."
The word came out so quiet he had almost missed it, he looked at you. Your eyes were still closed. "For what?"
"For coming... for staying."
Something in his chest squeezed, a soft smile spreads on his face. "You'd do the same."
There was a long pause, like you were actually pondering if you would do the same. "Maybe."
he let out a quiet laugh, adjusted the blanket around both of your shoulders. "Yeah, I know."
Your breathing evened out again, within a few minutes you were completely asleep.
Woonhak stayed exactly where he was, he could move, scratch that, he should move. He had class, there was still a garbage bag sitting by your door. His other friends were probably wondering about his whereabouts.
None of that seemed the least but important to him right now.
Instead he sat there in your mostly newly cleaned room, one arm resting carefully around you so you would not slip off his shoulder.
Looking down at you currently using him as a pillow without the slightest idea it is doing to his heart. Woonhak smiled to himself. "I guess I'm staying."
You didn't answer, you just shifted a little closer, as if that was all you needed all along.
The days leading up to next month felt like a slow-motion countdown. Nine years was a long time. I wondered if he still had that annoying habit of kicking my leg under the table, or if he still laughed until he made weird snorting sounds."Luna, can you get the door?" my mom called out from the kitchen.
My heart did a sudden, nervous flip. The doorbell had just rung. I wiped my palms on my jeans and walked down the hallway, taking a deep breath before turning the handle. When the door swung open, the boy from my childhood memory was completely gone. Standing in his place was a tall, sharp-eyed young man with a duffel bag slung over his shoulder. The messy hair was styled now, and he wore a clean black jacket that made him look way too mature. For a second, neither of us said anything. The silence stretched between us, heavy and awkward.
Then, a slow, familiar smirk broke across his face."Wow," Maki said, his voice much deeper than I remembered. "You actually grew an inch or two, Luna."
"Oh, shut up, Riki," I shot back, the old nickname slipping out automatically.
Hearing me use that name made his eyes soften. He chuckled—a deep, low sound, entirely different from the boyish cuckling from nine years ago. He stepped inside and immediately dropped his bag, wrapping his arms around me in a tight, warm hug."It's good to be back," he murmured.
We sat down for dinner an hour later, our moms chatting away in the kitchen just like old times. Maki sat right across from me at the table. At first, it felt strange. He looked like a stranger, talking about his family's business and his life in the city. But then, halfway through the meal, I felt a sudden bump against my shin.I froze, looking up from my plate. Maki was leaning back in his chair, taking a sip of water, looking completely innocent.Thump. Another light kick to my ankle.
I glared across the table at him. He lowered his glass, a mischievous glint in his eyes that belonged entirely to the 14-year-old boy who used to throw pillows at me. Some things never change.
(First time trying pov tell me if it's good)
Also sorry for not posting for long being busy lately
seriously. it makes the text hard to read. idc if that’s a fic title or some sublabels on your pinned post—it’s hard to read! there are also fonts that appear as question marks to some devices. please stick to normal fonts or at least use something easy to read. also, pls don’t make your titles either too big or too small!
2. url/percent encoding in hyperlinks
if the start of a post has things like emoji, special character, stylized font, non latin letters, it most likely appears as a series of hexadecimal digits & percent signs (that you need to erase) in the url. when you paste the link anywhere and open it, it leads mobile users to their web browser instead of just being able to view the post in the tumblr app.
and if the poster has the ‘hide [username] from people without an account’ setting toggled on... unless the viewer is logged in on their tumblr mobile web browser too, they cannot view the post.
if you’re on desktop and have never experienced this problem, please go to the app and see the inconvenience for yourself.
in the middle of writing this guide, i figured out a solution...? tip #15
3. use the ‘keep reading’ feature!
nobody wants to scroll forever on a post just to reach the next one. it’s the last icon to your right that looks like a wave/zigzag and has a line above and below it. or you can just type :readmore: then press enter and it’s done. also keep in mind that when you edit your posts and move this thing or edit content above it—it sometimes disappears, so double check!
4. changing your username changes your urls—so pls fix your hyperlinks.
if you change your username, it changes the url of your posts too. so that means you have to change the hyperlinks on your posts/masterlists because it would just lead to nowhere if the links still contain your old username.
also this means that if you try to do ‘view original post’ on a reblog of your post with your old username, it would lead to error.
5. your text color should not be an eyesore.
if you’re going to have color on your text, pls make sure they’re readable on both light and dark mode and that it doesn’t hurt people’s eyes.
how to do the gradient color thing? go to this site, enter your text, choose your colors, i suggest to choose ‘horizontal (line by line)’ for fade type, tap the generate button, check if readable on light & dark mode, copy the color code, go to tumblr web browser, edit your post and press the settings icon, find ‘text editor’ and switch it to html, and paste your code.
6. yes, you can change the date on your post.
pls stop asking writers about this. 😭 open tumblr on web browser, edit your post & click the settings icon, find ‘post date’ and change the date and/or time there.
7. tumblr only allows 1,000 blocks per post.
a block is a paragraph. every time you hit enter, that’s a new block. even if it only contains one word or character. keep this in mind if you’re posting long fics so you can plan ahead on what to do if it exceeds 1,000 blocks. if you hit the limit, a warning pops up and you can actually still post it but you cannot have more than 1k blocks. any more paragraphs won’t save or update.
8. set your fic text to normal size.
unless you’re writing drabbles (works around 1k) or displaying the details to your fic—please stop. it’s hard to read. that’s it. leave it as it is. don’t you dare press that <s> icon to edit the actual fic. it is annoying!!! (idk am i alone in this)
also, please use paragraph breaks! unless you’re compressing your fic to avoid hitting the block limit (to which i suggest you should just consider making a next part), it’s hard to read walls of text. don’t be surprised if people skip your fic because the paragraphs are too damn long. it’s worse if you have long paragraphs + the <s> size.
9. tag nsfw works accordingly!
there are so many nsfw works out there with no proper labels. put any of: mdni, 18+, nsfw, or smut and make it clear! what’s the point of putting a label if it’s barely visible? 🤨 and if you’re going to do it through banners/dividers, same thing applies. make sure it’s clear.
10. include the word count in fic details.
as much as possible. a lot of writers avoid this because they seem to think that seeing the word count would make readers scroll away. i think it’s considerate for writers to do it because it can help the reader estimate how much time they should spare to read it. i understand if you draft on tumblr where it’s hard to copy your whole text because it only allows copying per block, but if you’re using other platforms? please calculate the word count or its estimate, at least.
11. ‘save’ button on the app can be weird.
if you’ve experienced this, you’re not alone. on the app, double check if it’s set as ‘save as draft’ before you press the blue save button. this isn’t a problem on web browser and you don’t have to worry about it. idk if tumblr has fixed this bug yet.
12. sites for cute fonts and emojis!
13. you can block anons.
if you ever receive prickly asks in your inbox, you can block them. go to the ask, press three dot menu, tap ‘block sender’. here is a more detailed experiment someone did to demonstrate how it works. (also did you know you can send asks to your own blog?)
14. tumblr’s 30-day policy.
in case you’re not aware, tumblr has this new system. i know, it sucks. so think carefully before you delete your account.
this is also the reason why you now don’t immediately see the typical “-deactivated123456” after the usernames of blogs who deactivated. it’d take 30 days after they deleted their account.
also explains why if you create/change your user and tumblr says it’s taken, but you check for the url and the blog is non-existent, that means the username you want belonged to someone who had just recently deleted their account.
15. custom urls exist!
did you know that you can actually change the url of your posts? this is done on web browser. edit your post, tap settings icon, at the very top it says ‘custom url’. you can change that.
i experimented and this is actually a good solution to the url encoding! so, you don’t really have to sacrifice making pretty titles. just make sure the url is clean. (i figured this would only be a solution for the writers themselves though because if they do not customize the url, it’s still up to us to clean the links when viewing or sharing it...)
note: i noticed that even when i set up a custom url, if i edit the post on the app, it defaults back to the old url. but if i set a custom url again and edit my post on web browser, the custom url stays. idk if it’s a bug on my side? maybe this platform just really hates mobile users
16. content filters exist!
want to stop seeing certain stuff? go to settings > preferences > content filtering > filtered tags & filtered post content. add keywords there.
on web browser, the path is just account > filtered tags & filtered post content.
17. 30-image limit
yes, you can post up to 30 images but this can only be done on tumblr web browser, not the app! re-arranging it on the app is still okay, but adding more than 10 is really not doable here.
also apparently some people don’t know how to arrange the photos, which is just long press/click and drag; same thing with blocks/paragraphs. and you can only stack up to 3 photos beside each other!
18. featured tags on your blog
to help navigate a blog through tags, this thing exists! you can customize what appears on yours. go to blog settings > featured tags. the path is the same on web browser, except you’d see the tags displayed by viewing a blog, press the search icon beside posts and it’d show popular tags.
19. link in description!
want to try it? copy the template below!
<a href="URL">Link Text</a>
20. blog archive
did you know that you can actually view all the posts a blog has through their archive? web browser thing. press the three dot menu under their username and click ‘view archive’. or you can also just type on your browser:
username.tumblr.com/archive
21. app recs!
writing: writer journal, notion, obsidian, novelist, google docs
smau: memi message, twinote, funsta
gfx: ibis paint x, canva, phonto, sketchbook
22. visibility toggles
the 3 on the left, it’s explained in the photos... i just wanted to let you know they exist in case you’re not aware or would like to turn them on (or explain why you can’t view some people’s posts or search them up). the one on the right is something that you should really be aware of. 😬
23. description and inbox visibility
i noticed that if your description is blank + your avatar is hidden, it makes your askbox button disappear. users would have to press the three dot menu beside the ‘follow’ button and only there would you see the askbox again.
24. carrd pages!
carrd is a site where you can build a page to introduce yourself and your blog! you can search up templates right on the site, google, tumblr (search #carrd templates), or youtube tutorials!
my favorites: one | two | three | four | five
i heard about strawpage too but i’ve never tried it and i think it requires more skill...
25. weird spacing on app
if you’re copying your fic from another platform and paste it on tumblr app, you might notice that the spacing doubles and it’s a hassle to adjust each paragraph. but if you do it on web browser, the spacing is normal; no need to adjust anymore. this is why i always create my drafts first on the web browser and just edit it later on the app (easier for me).
26. running out of fic ideas?
you can search through #writing prompts here on tumblr and even on pinterest too! you can also think in categories for inspo such as: songs, movies, tropes/reversed tropes, existing media franchise, foods, random photos on pinterest, etc. or start opening requests if you’re not doing that yet. brainstorming with friends too. there’s endless possibilities! just pls do not use ai.
27. main blogs and side blogs
many people seem to not be aware of the differences between the two. here’s what i’ve gathered through research and experience, but cmiiw: both main blogs & side blogs can post, reblog stuff, send anonymous asks, respond to asks, and they share an algorithm too; only the blog settings (drafts, visibility, etc.) are different on each one. main differences are that a main blog can follow blogs, like posts, send asks (anonymously or not)—a side blog can’t do any of those.
why i mentioned the ‘anonymously or not’ is because the action of sending asks will always be defaulted from your main blog whether you’re on anon or not. so if you happen to block an anon... you’re blocking someone’s main blog from sending anonymous asks to you. idk if this info would come in handy somehow. pls refer to tip #13 for detailed explanation of blocking anons.
this is all that i was able to think of. lmk if you want me to add/clarify anything else! i’ll update this if i can think of more stuff. if you really need to save this, pls reblog or take screenshots or else you lose this if i ever delete my blog lol hope it helped! ♡
