Oh, right. No at the moment there are no interviews planned. The participation was low in the end so I paused it. And suddenly the whole blog was a bit... down. Favourite Hurts Moments 2017 - Outlook/ Wish for Next Year
I'm looking forward to the reception of the Asian shows, and maybe, hopefully, if they are successful, it will push them to try and travel to Australia and South & North America, and of course the European countries they tend to miss every time too :(Ā
I'm really excited for the documentary, I hope it's not too long until that comes out!! It's such a lovely idea and knowing that the boys themselves wanted to do this is such a heartwarming feeling. They really do care about their fans and it's so wonderful to see them giving back to us when they really are not obligated to do anything for us <3Ā
In terms of music, I hope they continue doing whatever they want to. They really put their necks out there with Desire, and I really respect that they continue trying new things and pushing the boundaries, and as Theo says, anything they write and release will always be Hurts. While some didn't like it (fair enough, not everyone has the same music tastes) I would much prefer they keep doing what feels true to them, no matter what people say.

Okay, whatās my wish for next year in connection to Hurts? Actually, I had wished to see and know there will be more gig dates for the next year since then I know there wonāt be just another 12 months of deafening silence and nothingness. I got that so what else shall I wish for?
First of all, I would love it if they kept exploring the paths they started exploring in 2017. Adam and his posts on instagram took a new turn and I like (most) of it. Theoās work on improving his dancing and acting skills pays off and I hope he continues that. It shows that apart from being in that band we love they have other things they enjoy and it is nice they share it with us!
I am curious how their fan project or documentary turns out and what else they have in mind or plan to do.Ā I hope they feel like making music but I also hope their take their time outs. And I hope they will have a wonderful next year and their plans work out! No matter what path they will take, we will be there walking with them, I guess! I want them to stay healthy, strong, positive and confident! (Actually this goes out to all of us! Keep your head up, we live in weird times!)
And finally, Hurtsfamily. It has been an eventful year with a new album, new videos, new revelations and a tour! And even though Hurts were very loud during the past twelve months, I felt the family was not... Not matter how excited I was to wait for the new Hurts music to come out, I was always sad that fewer and fewer people were excited with me... I had so many good days and weeks talking to you for my projects, but I also had bad days and weeks when all of a sudden you did not reply and I wondered why I was still doing it. There are (good) reasons for that and a part of me understands. The other part feels weird and sad that the Hurtfamily seems to get smaller and smaller and quieter and quieter. People used to come and go and now they mostly seem to go. This is how life goes, I think. And as long as there are a few people here, I will stay. Since, fangirling even with only a few people makes me have the best times of the year! So thanks for being here, people!Ā

Magnificent, well, because the entire mood of the song always makes me cry (I'm kind of relieved that they didn't play it at the UK shows because I'd be dead lmao). What I love about Desire is that there are songs that are beautiful, deep Hurts ballads (SINtK, HOtM) and some with a great, great message (BO/ WYG/), there are songs to dance to (RtG/ WA/ Spotlight) and songs where you go ā???āĀ (Boyfriend). I love that I know that I donāt have to understand why they did this or that but that I can love some songs and dislike other songs on the album without thinking āthis is badā. Ā Ā Ā Iāve been there from the beginning. The beginning of Hurts, that is (not Daggers). I remember seeing the Wonderful life music video on a music channel on TV all the time and automatically categorizing it as āmainstream musicā as they kept showing the video many times throughout the day. I was about to dismiss them as a band I wasnāt interested to listen to, as everyone was listening to them, right? Thatās why they were constantly on the music video channels? Thatās what I thought.Ā
I canāt quite remember why I started to listen to them. I think I was just aimlessly watching random videos on youtube when I stumbled upon their music. Whenever I dismiss something as āmainstream musicā that Iām not interested to listen to, I often end up listening to the said band or artist after the haze and then, of course, I love them. Well, thatās what happened with Hurts, although thereās very few other bands Iāve stayed this invested in for this long.
2. On your blog I read you are from Finland. What is it like to be a Hurts fan where you live? (knowledge of and connection to other fans, media coverage etc. and whatever you think is special)Ā
Ā Ā Ā Hurts gets a decent amount of media coverage here, at least when it comes to the radio. I hear their music from time to time on Finnish radio channels, even when theyāre not active or when itās been some time from when theyāve released an album. I always enjoy seeing their posters all around the city when theyāre about to come and have a concert- they make me smile and wait in anticipation to see them again. Ā Ā
I havenāt been involved with the fanbase here really. I used to run a Hurts blog here on tumblr years ago and through that I did communicate with other fans from other countries, but Iām not really a person that gets involved with the fanbase in either case. I just like to blog by and for myself. My partner is super invested in the band as well and communicates much more with the fanbase so itās nice to be able to fangirl with her about everything related to hurts- like Adamās Instagram stories, Theoās adventures and Annabelle! (Paulās cat, that is)
3. Have you ever been at a Hurts concert? Have you met Theo and Adam before? If yes, how was the experience? If not, how do you imagine it to be?
Ā Ā Ā Iāve been to three of their concerts and Iām going to see them again this fall! Itās always a highlight of the year and I always feel like coming home when I go and see them. I havenāt met them but Iām not too sure what I would do nor say if I would meet them, so Iām honestly not too mad. My partner has talked with Paul quite a lot and she even arranged a birthday present for me years back when she handed a picture I had drawn to Paul. He had ran to the rest of the band to sign it (Of all the drawings Iāve made she chose the one of Theo and Adam as ducks, of course). As she lived abroad, working as an au pair at that time, she sent the signed drawing to me as a surprise. Itās still the best birthday gift Iāve ever gotten, although I get very embarrassed every time I see the drawing now.
4. What do you think about the Hurtsfamily? Ā Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Lovely people! My partnerās been really active within the community as I mentioned before, and itās always nice to see what people are up to.
5. What are your favourites? A Hurts song, album, video, lyric... or whatever comes to your mind in connection to Hurts.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Thereās quite a few favorite songs of mine. Lights is a song that always gets me into a good mood and I just adore everything about the music video; Theoās dancing, the chemistry between him and the girl, the overall theme and aesthetic etc. I also love Wings and tend to blast it on full volume when Iām home alone, singing my lungs out. I actually enjoy the whole Surrender album and if Iād have to choose a favorite out of all the albums, Iād choose Surrender.Ā
Ā Also a song that I feel deserves a special mention is Sunday, as I have a very emotional connection to the song. My partner has already talked about it in her interview, but to put it shortly, we used to live far apart as she was working as an au pair abroad, so the song described what we felt quite well. Itās also an emotional experience whenever they sing it live and weāre there to see it.Ā
When it comes to concerts, I still remember the intense feeling as Theo smashed his microphone stand. I looooved it and felt like smashing a building after the concert, a very powerful post-haze.Ā
The Road, Better than love, Evelyn and Exile are also favorites of mine, to name a few.
6.What do you think about the new material: Beautiful Ones and Ready to Go and the new album in general? (Cover art, titles etc. ā¦)
Ā Ā Ā Beautiful ones was a kick ass song for the boys to return with after what felt like a long silence, not to mention unexpected. Same with Ready to Go- it was refreshing and I canāt count how many times Iāve blasted both songs in my apartment while singing my lungs out to both songs. Not to mention, a music video with even the smallest appearance of Adam is always a win for me. Ā Ā
Iām like a parent who loves their child unconditionally when it comes to Hurts; I fully support them trying out new things, even if I wouldnāt always like what they make. Desire was a challenge to get into at first but now as Iāve listened to the whole album a few times, I like it. Sure thereās songs I just choose to skip immediately but on the other hand thereās songs Iāve been listening to on repeat perhaps a bit too many times. Thereās many songs I look forward to hear live when they come to Finland in November. I recently received my signed album, although the case had been completely smashed in the mail so Iām trying not to let that rub off on what I think of the album (I had written this far before I had received the second album- which had also been damaged in the mail. Iām a bit discouraged, to be honest.)
7. Anything you wish for when you think of the upcoming tour, outfits, new paths they could take (being a photographer or actor), new merch items etc.?Ā
Ā Ā Ā First of all, I really really really want and need a patch with āHurtsā on it. All I wish for when it comes to the tour is that they have as much fun as weāre going to have. And of course I hope that they play Sunday for obvious reasons.Ā
Iām for some reason always looking forward to what they wear- perhaps Adam more this time as heās begun to explore a lot more now- Theoās always been on that line in my opinion. Iām just super excited to see the whole band, not to mention the background singers- they were a fabulous addition to the Surrender tour!Ā
8. Is there a question you always wanted to ask them but journalists never do? And which question in interviews annoys you the most?Ā
Ā Ā Ā The question that annoys me the most is the one about how they met- Iāve just seen and heard it so many times already. I love to hear and talk about all the deep stuff like relationships, emotions, childhood experiences, struggles in life- but Iād hate to be so nosy about such personal things.
9. Hurts and their style. What do you like about their outfits? Is there something you don't like? Have they influenced your style in any way?Ā
Ā Ā Ā Oh boy, have they influenced my style, first of all. My styleās become pretty minimalistic because of them- not to mention my never dying love for everything thatās dark/black. I sometimes question Theoās choice of fashion, but I love that heās trying such odd things at times- itās refreshing! Although I loved the whole stiff suit-look that they sported in the beginning, itās good that theyāve dared to differ from that and let their looks evolve.
10. Famous last words: Say whatever you want.Ā
Ā Ā Ā I canāt put into words how much this band still inspires me and brings me great joy. Itās the only band Iāve followed so closely for so many years and it feel special to having been there through all the changes. It also feels special that they trust the fanbase and their followers on their social media with glimts to their personal lives- Adam openly talking about his struggle with addiction and mental illness and all that. I hope they have a great tour and canāt wait to see them!
