After a long break from model kits I'm back with a not-gunpla. I've built a Frame Arms kit before but I wanted to give Frame Arms Girls a try. My plan is for a Megaman Zero/ZX(A) look using my unbuilt Baselard parts. At the same time I do plan on going back to my other builds. I'm currently in the process of moving, so I can't work on my gunpla, and therefore can't post much here. So instead I will post some old pictures of my second ever kitbash, first finished custom, and first attempt at something way beyond my skill level at the time. So, I messed up and didn't link my pictures properly when I submitted my #gunplabuildersassociation Cannon Fodder entry, so they only got the first image in the Google Drive folder, the "proof of straight-build" picture. However, the contest organizers must have missed my submission, because my entry never showed up in the full album until a few days ago (and even then it was the "proof of straight-build" picture). By then it was too late, the contest was over. And they never contacted me about the whole issue, probably because it was way too late and they were busy managing the rest of the contest. My entry just slipped through the cracks. But, unlike the image above suggests, I'm not mad. I'm sad I missed my chance to show off my completed kit. Nothing against the contest organizers, I'm sure they did their best. I'm still satisfied with what I was able to accomplish in 3 months for my second ever contest, even if it didn't turn out exactly the way I intended. I learned a lot along the way, and intend to use that experience to make my next build better, and the one after that, and the one after that. My next project, which is actually an old project. Overflag - Stealth Fighter Made for the #gunplabuildersassociation Cannon Fodder contest Now that the contest is over, I can post about my completed build. The inspiration came from stealth jet fighters; I looked at modern planes to see what their design philosophy was, and tried to emulate that as best I could on the Overflag. The results were mixed. The Flag's base design is that of a transforming plane, so a lot of real world plane design doesn't fit well. (The tail fins being on the legs, the front of the jet mode being a detachable gun, etc.) Additionally I didn't think alot of the execution out, so some of my ideas came out looking half-complete (the top of the gun and the sides of the wrists). But overall I glad I was able to finish on time, and it was my first time top coating, so I'm glad that turned out well. Technically, since I haven't yet finished my Anubaze, this is my first finished build. As for my next build, I'll be returning to an old build I've been planning for at least several years and I finally have the tools and skills to make it happen. Of the two customs I've built so far, my greatest construction challenge that I've made for myself is the creation of 3D shapes out of plaplate. *makes airplane noises* My base kit for the @gunplabuildersassociation build contest. My current plan is to customize it into some sort of stealth fighter, so I'm reading up (mostly Wikipedia) on existing stealth fighters to find what about their design makes them so stealthy. I want to make sure it looks good both in both transformation modes. I return for the new year. Before I left for the holidays I had been topcoating pieces with Pledge Floor Care Finish. I left them to dry, and then today I returned to test fit them. Here's a picture of how the colors turned out with the Pledge topcoat. I'm still experimenting with how many layers of Pledge I need to brush on, and I need to fix the paint layer because I only noticed some mistakes after topcoating but it's my first time doing anything like this so I'm learning! #gunpla #gundam #plamo #plamodel #customgunpla #gunplawip #kitbash #ibo #ironbloodedorphans #graze #reginlaze #sandiegogunpla
