the winter soldier has more emotions than all of us. hear me out

the winter soldier has been reduced to be primal, animalistic really. he has lost the ability to regulate his emotions, he feels everything amplified.

however, he has been conditioned to not express his emotions. and he never had the tools or support system to learn to process his emotions. so they stay bottled up and tangled together to the point it’s overwhelming and confusing. he doesn’t even understand them, least of all can express them effectively, but he’s drowning in them internally. he’s numb, but the interesting juxtaposition is it comes from overly feeling all. the. time.

he is human, just not himself. his humanity has been hindered, yes, but in the sense of loosing autonomy and empathy. and I think the reason he struggles to feel for his victims is because his own emotions take up too much space.

he obeys and doesn’t care about his actions as he does them or the consequences, but after the fact? his past makes him feel everything in the book.
