A more “traditional” eNewsletter Sample Template emphasizing the importance of visual interest, proper content curation, and organic advertising / sponsorship integration. It is intended as an example to highlight certain best-practices including (*training excerpt): Blocking Elements for Compatibility: Blocked or grid-based elements more easily translate to responsive design. Whether converting a 2-column desktop layout to a 1-column mobile layout, you want scaling and rearranging content to be fluid and consistent. Visual Separate of Sections / Subjects: Emails are most often skimmed - make this easier in content-rich or text-heavy newsletters by clearly indicating each section. If the reader has a favorite, they’ll want to find it easier.

Color and Underline Links: These are very ingrained visual cues that tell even the most basic user that something is a link + clickable.

Focus on CTAs: Summaries, excerpts, and other copy is secondary to your CTA, but should still drive interest to it. Let the eye rest between links and buttons. Your archives are valuable, so give the reader a way to explore more content using “MORE” links. Spacing out Ads & Integrating Sponsorships: Make ads and sponsorships less intrusive by integrating them more organically throughout the design and layout of your newsletter; staggering them while maintaining a comfortable flow. Graceful Degradation: Plan for images to disappear. Basic HTML/CSS elements like borders, lines, background colors, etc. are more guaranteed to be seen no matter the browser, email client, or device. Maintain your design and branding integrity by assuring that “fancier” graphic elements have a comparable fallback.

Project entailed:

A complete analysis of brand / design guidelines for the existing publications.

Corresponding with the lead brand / print designer of each brand to establish core requirements and design elements (fonts, colors, aesthetic, target).

Translating and consolidating the information into a modern fusion of both legacy + newly selected fonts/colors/design elements.

Creating a simple, clean, flexible, and modular template style that could be adjusted to apply stylistically to both specific brands and broadly tie-in across the “network”.

A straightforward reference point / companion index; pre-filled with everything you need to consider, while offering a simple all-in-one editable / printable document to keep all your to-dos, research and information together.

Preview sample of a custom, editable social media posting schedule. An easy overview of social media sites, bad / neutral / decent / good / best days & times to post, and the individual’s broad-view content / posting / activity / engagement tasks per day & platform.

Optimal days / times vary per industry, target audience, timezone, and objective (i.e. clickthrough vs. shares vs. active engagement). The default schedule highlights the overall general recommendations aggregated from dozens of studies.

There are many paid posting & scheduling services that offer automated posting adjustments based on traffic and engagement results. This schedule is meant as an easy, simple jumping-off point.
