Product Review: Jane Carter Solution Hydrate Quench
We’re smack dab in the middle of summer. It’s hot. It’s humid, the perfect combination for your hair looking a hot mess. This applies to both my natural sistas and my straight haired, relaxed ladies. So if you’re natural, what do you use on your hair to keep it moisturized? I mean it’s already humid. Why would anyone want to add more moisture? But, it is a MUST to keep natural hair moisturized year round, despite the weather.
Since it started heating up outside, I started noticing that applying my water bottle mixture of water, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Giovanni Leave In Conditioner and oils was too much for a midweek or daily moisturizer. All that stuff just sat on top of my hair. Plus it all just made my hair shrink into a teeny weenie Afro. There’s nothing wrong with TWAs, but I don’t spend every night twisting just to wake up to a baby fro. I want it stretched and defined to perfection.
So I went to the store and looked for some sort of light daily moisturizer. I found Taliah Waajid Hydrating Curl Shine and Jane Carter Solution Hydrate Quench. Now I love Taliah Waajid. I use the Curly Curl Cream, but I was curious about this Jane Carter Solution. So right then and there in the aisle, I pulled out my phone and read some reviews. People raved about it! My fellow naturalistas say it keeps their hair moisturized and it’s perfect for everyday use without weighing their hair down. I still wasn’t sure if I wanted to betray my Taliah Waajid. So for me, it came down to price. The Taliah Waajid was around $8 for four fluid ounces. The Jane Carter Solution was $10 for double the amount. That’s all I needed to know. I put the Taliah Waajid back on the self and walked to the counter with my Jane Carter.
So what’s in it? Water, Rosemary, sage, soy protein and pathenol. It’s consistency is liquid. Because of the nice little pump, it sprays out in a mist. It really is cool and refreshing to the hair and scalp. My other naturalistas say spray it on and then seal with an oil. So that’s what I did one night. The next day, I opened my twists and headed out for the day. Once I arrived at work, after my ten minute walk from from car to my office, my hair wasn’t looking half bad. I did have some shrinkage but it definitely wasn’t as bad as it was without it. This is something I will probably buy again. I’ll see how it works in the winter once it gets cold and my hair tends to gets drier.
I know some of you have your own concoctions and mix your own water, Rosemary, sage or whatever works for you. That’s great! But for the rest of us who are not likely to mix our own, Jane Carter Solution Hydrate Quench is a great alternative. I got mine from Walmart, but I’m sure other fine stores such as Target probably sell it too. What do you use to keep your hair moisturized? Share your secrets. She has spoken!
I wonder if it works well for people who are natural, but use heat to wear straight.
