NMJ Mastery Journal: The Final Stand!
New Media Journalism, The Final Project, is the last course I, Willie C. Manning will have to complete. What have I learned, gained, or think of this course you ask? Well, I will start of by saying this course is my final stepping stone to my path to success in becoming a better writer, or Professional Journalist. I came into this course with the expectation of improving my knowledge of expressing research or theories professionally, Thesis. I will admit I was feeling anxious, nervous, and concerned. Mainly because when you hear the word Thesis, you automatically seem to consort that with the idea you will be creating some paper/project that consists of 40 pages, and like two-hundred thousand words, give or take. Ridiculous, yes, I know but being an overachiever and determined to succeed and overcome this obstacle I embarked on what would be my last Ooorah!
In the completion of this course’s objectives, I utilized the skills I obtained over the course of 11months. Things like creative writing skills, analyzation skills, and research skills. I even completed a main stream project with the religious community of Dillon County as my topic. You can see this full project here in this link https://t.co/TGuKpKhzaM?amp=1. I would like to say in this course if I had to choose an assignment that stood out to me the most I would say assignment for Week Three was the most intriguing. In this assignment not only did I complete chapter four of my thesis paper, but I learned what is really means to give pertinent information as a whole pertaining to any project completed as a journalist. What I mean by that is being able to create a project is great, but being able to linguistically express the project and the components within is to master the craft of providing credible information.
The duration of this course I have learned how to stop to take a breath, be confident in my research, and not let my anxiety get the best of me. Thanks to the help of two specifically great instructors who were detrimental to my success as a professional journalist. Their names are Dr. James Carstens, and Jeff Sharon who both have been in the creative writing industry for over 20 + years. I will take this knowledge gained here at Full Sail University and use it both personally and professionally to grow in my industry as a professional journalist. I will take my professional writing skill and apply them in my future projects. As a professional journalist I will use them to a professional editor in my future endeavors. Thank you all to my professors, and my awesome classmates who hung in there and made it to the finish line! This is the last day of class, and I am just as sad as I am excited to see it come to an end. I wish you all luck on your of your future endeavors, and a special good luck to Tracy Antoinette you were a great friend in the journey to our new-found craft. Keep pushing and stay in touch. I'll see you at the finish line.
