SUBPLOT PREVIEW 

hey everyone! opening is creeping up on us and dana and i would like to thank you for your patience. some unplanned work travel occurred which meant we had to push back opening but we’re so close to having everything ready to go! above is our subplot, the bitter twist to the site. you can choose to be as involved in this as you like. we also have a fictional art academy linked to the site - while it isn’t mandatory for any students to attend this university it’s a way to bring everyone together and create more plot opportunities and connections. if you have any questions about the above feel free to reach out to us on discord. 

LA SOCIÉTÉ

La Société de conservation et d'appréciation des Beaux-Arts was founded in 1778, exactly five years after the fall and death of Louix XVI, under the guise of uniting the arts community and moving forward from the elitism that surrounded them in the past. Their true purpose was far more sinister than that of the public facade that garnered the society popularity and favor. Although known by the public, the actual members and inner workings of the society are only known by those deep within it's inner-circle, and even then those on the outside can only speculate on who is truly part of it. The public faces are well-known, popular and engaging members of the art community. From artists, philosophers, teachers, politicians, actors and dancers. All used as mere puppets to spread a false message of community and inclusivity. The first dark rumors surrounding the society began to stir in the late 1800's with the "accidental" death of French actress Gabrielle Laborde. Whispers began that her death, an overdose at the hands of her "secret" opioid addiction, wasn't an accidental overdose at all. Of course nothing was proven and links to the society were simply whispered hearsay. The pattern continued and nothing could be proven of the other deaths and accidents surrounding some of the most influential artists and performers over that time. These dark and twisted rumors lessened over the years, now just stories told over wine and skeptical laughter, but they're still very much apart of the fabric of the art community and the society still holds influence and power today. Their money used to fund and nurture the community they want to preserve—or have power over. In recent years these rumors have begun to stir again. This time it isn't death, at least not literally. It's the death of reputations and careers. People disgraced, their work discredited. Or their work disappearing all together. There are a few vocal about the disingenuous nature of the society but many choose to turn a blind eye and bury their heads in the sand. Too scared of what might happen to their work or careers if they choose to dig too much.

L'ACADÉMIE ROYALE D'ART DE PARIS

Simply known as the L'Académie to most in Paris. L'Académie was founded at the turn of revolution in the 19th century by a group of artists who's shared ideology was to have a place for all artists to thrive, study and learn together. It has since grown to become the second largest university in Europe dedicated to the study of fine arts. The original academy was located in the eighteenth arrondissment and derided in haute art soceity. L'Académie didn't gain favor until 1894, and many speculate this was because the society became involved with l'Académie. Although this has never been confirmed by any, merely a rumor that l'Académie has never been able to discredit. It was also around this time that l'Académie was formally recognized as a university and moved to several buildings over the ninth and tenth arronndissements and is where the university still remains today. In the early 20th century the university continued to grow and gain favor. Expanding the areas of higher learning to include music, dance, history, design, philosophy and language. Moving away from it's reputation as a fine arts university to now include liberal and performing arts. Now the university is one of most renown arts universities in the world, drawing students all over the world to Paris.

estranged wife for adrien / age 48 - 51, open fc, would prefer a poc 

they met when they were both students at the academy and had a very passionate and, at times, tumultuous relationship. the way only two completely stubborn and opinionated creative types can. but for all they disagree on, they had much more in common. they married in their early twenties after wife found out she was pregnant. it wasn’t planned, they never really made plans and their family just came together as did the life they ended up building. they have three children together: two biological children, and an adopted daughter (played by iku). adrien reached the height of his career and fame in his early thirties and it was a high he rode for almost two decades. he’s an acquired taste and a few of the things (well a lot of the things) he has said and done pissed off some very powerful and underhanded people. his career suffered for it and adrien, with wounded pride, spiraled. his wife left him, sick of watching him destroy himself and he continuously disappointed his children. people write him off as a a paranoid drunk and he does come across that way but he’s determined to prove himself and his worth while getting his life and wife back.

the above is very open. adrien has a very strained relationship with his children and it’s something he’s trying to work on but failing at. he’s very close to his adopted daughter which is something they could be bitter about or not. if you’re interested in taking any of these requests feel free to reach out to me on selinakyle#6500 to chat.

PLOT PREVIEW 

a city renowned for many things. paris, known as the city of lights, city of love, and a world fashion capital. it is a city with a vibrant and storied history. none more vibrant than it’s art and culture. even today, paris is a city that draws in the artistic dreamers; from painters in sun filled studios overlooking the city in montmartre all desperate to immerse themselves in history, the ambitious performers on the stage at palais garnier and opéra bastille, to the philosophers and deep thinkers studying at the sorbonne and l'académie. paris is where they come with a promise of a community that values creativity and passion for art over all else.

because art is for everyone, right? priceless works in museums for all to appreciate. with the fall of louis xvi and the subsequent suspension of the academy that followed, art was supposed to be for the people. and it is, to a certain extent. consumable by all in a way. crumbs for some, herded like cattle through long winding lines at the louvre. some just lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the famed mona lisa after shuffling through the crowd on aching feet for hours. for others, those from the upper echelon, with their lavish lives and wealth, it’s a full-course meal of the finest art the world has to offer and they’ll greedily still ask for more at the expense of those fighting for the crumbs.

and there are those underhanded and powerful enough who will take it for a price. all moral implications be damned. they’ll take it at the expense of the creators, they’ll ruin reputations for those who get in their way.

art is for the people but everything always has a price.  

so there it is! our official plot. there is more to come. tomorrow i’ll be releasing information on the fictional academy mentioned briefly in our plot. it is called 

l'académie royale d'art de paris

and it was founded at the turn of the revolution in the late 19th century as a home for all artists to study and work alongside each other. it has since grown from a fine arts academy to also include other branches of study from languages, architecture and design, to performing arts. 

there is also the “twist” that was very briefly touched upon as well in the plot. this delves into the subplot that you can be as involved in as you like. more information on that will be coming tomorrow as well. if you have any questions feel free to reach out to us on discord or hit up our asks.

SKIN PREVIEW & UPDATE

hi eveyone! I hope everybody has had an enjoyable holiday break and happy thanksgiving to those who celebrate. here is a sneaky look at the skin that dana has worked so hard on. it’s unlike anything i (lauren) have ever seen before—and something refreshing, new and different to a lot of other real life and city sites out there. 

as you can see from the previews we’ve kept things pretty minimalistic. the navigation can be found in the top right corner of the skin and will move as you scroll through the site, same with the sidebar as well.  

we’ll be releasing the application code in the next few days as well as announcing our opening date. due to my work scheduling an impromptu training trip to singapore at the last minute we’ve had to push the original date back to ensure that all of us will be around. 

we highly encourage you all to join the discord and get plotting though! especially with the official plot getting released tomorrow, which with timezones is sunday for majority of you.
