"Don't be shy boys," said the imposing Miss Adams, "it's time to show our guests your new costumes!"
"You too Malcolm..."
"I don't know why you two are sulking. I think you look perfectly sweet in your lovely dresses..."
"And no slacking off Malcolm! You'll be working here every day until you've paid off the damage you and Jonathon did."
"On your feet! We have paying customers and they're expecting a tour. You know the script and remember to smile!"
"Why good morning y'all, I'm Miss Daisy and welcome to the Beauregard House..."

Modern Bride, 1988.
Model: Kim Alexis.
This is just so late 80s. This is like a checklist of all the late 80s wedding trends: pearls everywhere, giant earrings (also pearls), sweetheart neckline, gloves (with pearls), puff/leg-o-mutton sleeves, back bow, basque waist, shoulder details (on top of the elaborate sleeves!!) and that absolutely iconic tulle explosion of a headdress. To say nothing of the bangs(!)
Her feet aren’t visible but I’d bet money on white satin low-heel pumps with white satin (and lace? pearls?) rosettes on the toes.
The bouquet is clearly small to keep the focus on the dress because otherwise it would be a big one with lots of falls and drapes and ribbons.
Just…satin and lace, satin and lace, satin and lace.
In another couple of years, the veil pouf will vanish, the sleeves will shrink, and there will start to be ~curling tendrils~ of hair hanging around.
How do I know this? Because I worked in a library that had local newspapers on microfilm and people would ask me to look up old wedding announcements for anniversary parties. I saw so many bridal photos, believe you me, and any time you see a veil pouf like that you know it’s, like, 1987-1989.
i love the veil poufs, i call them halo veils…
i especially like them because the original intent of veils was to hide the bride (whether it be for modesty, shielding them from evil spirits or jealous eyes, etc) but these only serve to frame & draw attention to their face in a rather angelic way
Getting ready for the party...
