Sorry, I haven't fully finished TPOF and Derek's route yet, but I wanted to ask. What do you think Lawrence would have felt if someone from Derek's squad, for example, had taken Lawrence in for themselves? I mean, seeing how bad Lawrence was feeling, could they have taken him in personally and kept him close? Specifically, keeping him literally separate from the other prisoners and treating him a little better?

I feel like Lawrence could actually end up fitting in with Komodo and Dragon’s group
I see it like this: Komodo would probably notice Lawrence from the very beginning. He really does have that “not quite of this world” vibe, kind of detached and in his own mind, which I think would definitely catch an occultist’s attention. At first though he'd be treated just like any other captive.
Once they’re released into the desert, Lawrence would 100% try to hide from the sun. I feel like he’s the kind of person who would panic in a survival situation like that, since it completely strips away his sense of comfort and control. Eventually, thirst would force him to look for water. He’s capable of fighting for resources, so if he came across another victim with water (like in Derek’s route where the victim is given water), he wouldn’t hesitate to fight for it and if necessary, even kill for it.
(I feel like Komodo would be watching him the whole time and Lawrence’s behavior would definitely catch his interest)
By nighttime, Lawrence might find a cave - the same place where the occultists perform their rituals. Komodo would probably try to pull him into it, genuinely wanting someone like him in their group, even if Dragon is more skeptical or cautious at first. I also feel like Komodo is crazy enough to just hand him a knife and let him perform a ritual himself (LOL)
As for what Lawrence feels…
At first, I think he’d just go along with whatever they say in order to survive, without really caring about the meaning behind the rituals. He’d be wary of them at first, but as he gets to know them and their occult practices, I think he would start to feel a strange sense of connection.
Even if Komodo and Dragon’s personalities don’t fully match his, that wouldn’t matter as much anymore. What matters is that he finally found something he was looking for - people he can be honest with, people who share his fascination with darker themes, death, and all of that.
I think he would actually integrate into their occult group really well. It would give him a sense of certainty, like he’s finally found something meaningful - something that won’t leave him, just like he won’t leave it.
I also think he would become deeply loyal, both to them and to their beliefs. In a way, they “saved” him, they saw his true self and accepted it. For him, this wouldn’t feel like losing control, but rather finally gaining a sense of belonging and changing his lonely existence.
Honestly, I think this might be the best possible final for Lawrence in this AU¯\_(ツ)_/¯
