The existence of magic show have obviously changed somethings in society, both the:
1. ability to transport things increasing trade
a. Food, one of the earliest and most important trades
b. Spells and cultural exchange stuff
c. Very big point on the declaration of kingdoms and what that means
for peoples and territories, this is a very big plot line in this fic
d. Spread of traders, coinage systems, taxation etc, all very fun things
to note and explore
i. Tho the spread it not to a ‘this is a legitimate
standardised system of governance/commerce’ as of yet
2. Communication media, the ability to transport messages to long distances, potential for propaganda
a. Nobility emblems, they were the first things that the nobles made
sure is shared and is widespread throughout the kingdom, so that
they can be recognized when they make contact with territories
remote, far from the capital and administration centers, which are
where the power and legitimacy of the nobility lies.
3. The ability to conjure things, water magic, wood magic, metal reinforcements, the existence of magic schools
a. Spells was also something that was transported along this
expansion, a notable one is temperature magic and translation magic
4. Everyone can have mana. Roselyn, she can come in handy, as she says ‘everyone can learn magic’, this is on social hierarchy
a. Magic recently is taught, so there is a plot point between the new
change of accessibility of magic, the integration of it in some
cultures, and classism with a focus on education
b. [possibly a plotline purely on social hierarchy, but i haven’t thought
of a compelling plot line yet]
5. Alchemy, although it is not very expanded up, scientific magic
a. Laws of science and proving theory
b. Making of potents
6. Magic items, how they were used, who can have them, the knowledge of how to manipulate magic into a machine to make something out of it
a. Magic theory and inscriptions
7. Food! It is a very important aspect in the series and I think the expansion on it would do well to talk about trade relationship and cultural exchange
a. White gloves while cooking??
