About me

I'm Alex (he/him)♂️, but you can call me by my username Tardigrade TV [GER/ENG]

My username is inspired by an old hyperfixation on Minecraft YouTubers and, obviously, tardigrades. A blue tardigrade with only 6 legs is my personal mascot, representing some of my personality traits. (I have a knitted tardigrade plush and a crocheted tardigrade plush)

I'll post whenever I feel like it, usually something about Hypmic*, my creations, my selfship or something related to my life. I'm a Nintendo gaming nerd who likes to imagine crossovers with my biggest interests. (Writes crossover ideas but never posts them 'cause I wanna put my ideas into drawings or crafts first) But I think it's also good to know that I love bugs! Entomology for the win, haha!

I started keeping invertebrates as longtime pets in summer 2025. I'll post pictures of them and share my thoughts on my beloved critters :]

My computer died, so I can only play games on mobile or Nintendo Switch (or Wii (u), (3)DS) for now (I miss PC games 😭)

I'm a hobby artist (traditional only). 🎨 I mostly use multimedia paper (Canson imagine mix media -> now Ohuhu sletchbooks) with alcohol markers (Ohuhu, Copic), fineliners, brush pens and manga pens like G-Pen and Maru-Pen. I also like to craft things (Papercraft, etc)

Planned new media that hopefully be used more soon: watercolor, screentones, acrylic markers (done!)

As a friendly reminder: I'm autistic, so please don't be surprised if I act awkward or tactless at times (I'm trying my best 😅) I'm also chronically ill, which can influence my activity here

I tend to call everyone "bud" or "buddy" here

As much as I love my creative hobbies, I can't ignore the fact that they can easily bring me out of routine and use up all my energy if they aren't properly planned in the schedule. While my routine has to stay flexible for my health, there are still vague boundaries for each activity to avoid neglecting other very important tasks. Of course, in the case I need to set my priorities differently, I can make compromises, but I definitely noticed that I didn't handle my recent mental struggles with a satisfying result in the past few weeks.

This is not a way to harshly judge or punish myself, but to both make my observations clear to myself and rise awareness of the causes of this for further steps in my recovery.

I have to admit, my chronic illnesses affected my mental health as well, which is why I might seem socially more distant than usual or impulsive to those very close to me. I sought professional help, and I'm glad to declare that every therapy session I attended so far have shown great effects on my mental state. I know I'm still far from the end goal, yet I already achieved the most important cornerstones in this journey to a better life. Even with the one or other setback, the professionals involved agree that I'm on the right track.

With that being said, I'll make sure that I'll both use the time I'm given wisely and create as much space as I need. A very genuine thank you to anyone who has shown me much much compassion, kindness, patience, trust and respect. Even if I don't make it always clear or simply not get to voice this, I appreciate every single bit of it very, very much. Thank you again for staying here and waiting patiently for my return and the hard work to pay off. Have a great day and keep in mind that you matter to me! (〃´𓎟`〃)

#tardigrade wiggles #there's genuinely so much I still have to change in my life that I decided to take a whole year break from now on irl #I can't stick to old biases that keep hindering me from moving on #the past 2 weeks I was neglecting myself more than I could tolerate without consequences #the many appointments were one thing but the way I handled the time after them concerned me #I was driven by this obsessive force that on the one hand I finished many things in a short time #but on the other hand I drained myself and neglected the relationships that matter to me #I also got asks I was eager to answer but left them in my drafts bc the response was definitely not the point I wanted to make #when I'm experiencing those mental extremes I learned that I shouldn't make big decisions or engage in more complex topics #as long as the attack lasts #bc I'm mentally not in the right state to respond accordingly #I also neglected parts of my physical care that thankfully didn't significantly hurt me but it surely isn't the way to go #I still need to adjust things but taking a deep breath and breaking the cycle was definitely one big step #so I'm coming back to my senses eventually don't worry

I can't lie that after discovering DIY, I don't want to *buy* merch anymore but instead make everything myself. My mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I needed a moment to realize my birthday is soon (I forgot)... however, I didn't know what to tell her. It's either difficult for me to find the merch I want or it's just too expensive.

I'm at the point that I'd want to learn sculpting to make my own figures or try sewing to make my own plushies (though working with fabric can be quite a challenge for me)

I know all of this requires time, materials, patience, practice and a whole ton of effort but I think it's way more satisfying. Not only do the creations I make gain extra value to my heart, I can create anything I want. I'm not limited to what's available on the market. There's really few things I'd consider for a purchase.

Since I'm in crafting hell rn, I got an idea on how to remake my Jakurai shrine: I'll use some thicker paper and cut it out to the appropriate size to lay it out as a cover. That's how I can decorate and design these covers the way I want 👀

If I attached some small sheets of felt or other fabric that's used to display pins, I could use my space even better!

A core memory in my childhood was going to a toy store in the city to find plushies of all 3 5th Pokémon gen starters and my mom told me I could only choose one. I picked Snivy and I still have it to this day. To me it felt like choosing a starter Pokémon in the game ❤️
