Hi there! Your secret santa from the DW SS droping in... I was curipus : you said in your app you prefer angst but would not be aversed to a touch of fluff in some scenarios. What for you, is too fluff? Im good at breaking people's hearts but i also Normally like to balance sweet & sour. So i wanted to know what is ok & no so i dont overdo it. Otherwise I really hope you'll like my gift. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hiiiii Santa! :D Lovely to see you!
Hmmmmm...how much fluff...how much fluff...well that’s a tricky one. But for me, the fluff is best when it makes the more dark/angsty/dramatic stuff all the darker/angstier/dramatic...er! And I like to laugh at unexpected fluff involving characters who really don’t do the fluff thing and have no idea how to handle it!
For me, too much fluff would be...like...”the entire plot is just these two ‘shippy characters cuddled up and telling each other how much they love each other, and maybe pulling a Christmas cracker and exchanging a chaste kiss under the mistletoe”. Bleuchh. That’s not my thing.
But a canon (extended-universe) moment that I thoroughly enjoyed, to give an example, was in one of the Big Finish audios, where as part of a dastardly scheme, the Valeyard was trying to gain the trust of Benny Summerfield, and they had cake, and the Valeyard was trying his very utmost to be domestic, but he used a 19th century assassin’s knife to cut the cake, and then protested to Benny that “I have cleaned it!” That was so much fun, that scene.
And I once read a fic where two characters were starting to get hot and heavy in an idyllic little spring pool in a forest...clothes had come off, things were getting steamy...and then suddenly a Kraken reared up from the water and tried to eat them. That was brilliant.
So I hope that clarifies a little! Thanks for checking! <3<3
Happy (slightly belated) Thanksgiving to you too!
