Taryn's story (old intro post) is 2 years worth of comics following the story of Taryn, the inquisitorial psyker! The Wings of Dawn (TLDR post) is my homebrew chapter of loyalist sons of Fulgrim, whose storyline I will be mainly focusing on! :D Deathwatch Daycare (AO3) and its continuation, Chaos Roadtrip (AO3), are AUs from the main story, where I put a bunch of Neophytes in a jar and shake them until destiny comes knocking! I Wait For You (And I Forgive You) (AO3) is all about what if a resurrected Horus Lupercal had to raise the Star Child in Nihilis while over on Sanctus, the Terminus Decree justifies its existence. ;) You may also know me for my WarHams : A Chaos Odyssey fanart!

What was the biggest culture shock for husk born returning to the imperium?

What was, assuming there were any, a big shock to members seeking to join the wings? (Assumption sons of Fulgrim would be stuck up, obsessive, ect. Ect.?$

I think more than the ever-present, suffocating religion, the biggest issue the huskborn have had is getting used to the waste. Wasted water, wasted lives, wasted food, wasted resources, they were raised in an environment where recycling and reusing was central, culturaly. The fuck do you mean you spoil all of that water for one bath?! The "abundance" of it all was a massive shock for sure!

And I think that might actually be the biggest surprise for anyone as well. They expect frivolous little peacocks and instead they find groomed survivors. They look proper, they have their pride, but when they get down to it they feel like their harsh upbringing has hardened them in a unique way. Their blood, sweat and tears feel so different from any Imperium son. They weren’t tortured to toughen up as Neophytes, but they trained so hard they might as well have been. They knew hunger, like many, but it was coupled with an understanding that the outside world was out to get them. Safety is an illusion as daemons can come from anywhere. They are ready to do what must be done. They have an intensity about them like war survivors, which is not at all what many expected! They regard luxury with cautious circunspection. They enjoy art like they have been starved from any form of it their whole life. They pursue martial perfection not to look good and flaunt their skills, but because otherwise they will die, and everybody they care about will die.

So yeah. Culture shock. XD

do primarchs have baby teeth?

If not how did Horus react when Neoth lost his first

... I think it would be funny if they didn’t, but were all perfectly able to rip out a tooth at any moment, and have it regrow within a day. So when Neoth loses his first, Horus is first thinking that he did it on purpose while exploring his own abilities, and casually goes "Don’t do that."

When the next one falls and Neoth starts crying that he didn’t do it on purpose, Horus is confused. Then more fall and he is now briefly panicking because they are not regrown already oh my god what is happening- oh. Wait. No they are growing back, just very very slowly! Huh! Weird! .... ok but don't do that again though, please!

Do space marines have dentists?

If so can Neoth get checked out?

I'm gonna be honest I don't think the Death Specters care in any way about baseline dental. XD Good concern! But sadly that's kind of rare on Neoth's path at the moment, dentists... XD

So what is The Wings of Dawn chapter looking for specifically?

In general, they are looking to be accepted as they serve the Imperium. Hopefully, they want to raise the bar of what a Space Marine chapter is capable of doing, to slowly better the situation of the Imperium until we see some actual victories in this damned galaxy.

Specifically right now, though, they have to focus on their Declaration of Intent : the more or less court case/product presentation for their chapter. The sells pitch, if you will! :) For it to go smoothly, they need to find patrons, supporters, influential people to go "yeah I would back that, they know what they are doing!" until they have the whole room convinced to aprove of their creation. Those patrons would also contribute to their development physically : paying for armament, potentially offering a world to be their homeworld or their recruitment world, getting a part of the food tax set aside for them, all of that good stuff. So the more they manage to convince, the more they will be well-equiped for their mission! .....Understanding that all of those patrons will want something in exchange, of course. These are many small deals with the devil, in a way.

Is plastic still in use in the 40th millennia?

Almost no planets would have oil so would plastic be in use?

I... don't know. That's a question for better lore experts than I! XD

Oh, it is pride month, so I do have a guy. Poor Enginseer Nahs-Hasidir, oh xe of always having to run around after loose screws (literal, usually, but sometimes xir fellow cogs). Xe would be so enthusiastic about a nice, bug-free stint on a battle barge after spending a voyage getting terrorized by The Vexling and her breeding terrarium of house centipedes.

(ough... Neo-pronouns... I'm going to do my best to remember xir pronouns but if I do slip up please be advised that it is an accident and I do mean well ^^') Yay we got a local enginseer! :D And I have exellent news for xir, we are getting an anti-bug member of the crew right after! ;)

if I may, and there hasn't already been found a teacher for the subject, I would most gladly indeed like to offer to teach a couple classes on crochet and cross stich work! -tiny bit of very rudimentary spinning and knit work too though my passion lies with the former two

(Crafts do also tend to have more use then just decorative[1], though i too find it enjoyable to be able to add a personal touch to a garment and or space.

[1] the huble chainstitch makes for a pretty decent knot overall, as much as how you can also mend clothes that way)

Just for fun, because it’s Pride Month, here’s a trainwreck lesbian:

Marienne aka Mari aka the reason I have to double check my spelling whenever I comment on I Wait For You

Veteran Imperial Guard tank crewman. Average height, medium skin tone, mousey brown hair, hazel eyes. Her hair would be wavy if she took proper care of it, but instead it’s a mess of split ends that barely reaches her shoulders. She looks exhausted and a little underweight.

Her short term memory is spotty, she loses her words, her emotions are all over the place, and she had trouble remembering names *before* that mine blew up her Leman Russ, her crew, and her entire life. Someone fucked up her paperwork, it’s the only explanation. Mari might not remember most of the primarchs’ names - let alone know what in the Emperor’s name a “grimful” is - but she’s certain a half deaf Imperial Guard tanker with a TBI and enough combat stress to qualify for some fucked up mental health Olympics isn’t supposed to be reassigned to a space marine chapter’s mortal auxiliary. Last she heard, she was going to some Guard hospital for someone to figure out if she’s a heretic like her commissar said or just brain damaged. She hopes to stay lost in the hubbub of… whatever all this is so she doesn’t have to learn if it’s true that Guard hospitals are attached to servitor factories (they are).

So these, uh, Wing Boys. She think someone mentioned a primarch with an F name, but the only one who fits that description is, like, Ferraman? Or something? And Sanguinius is the only wing-y primarch so she must have misheard. She definitely misheard whoever said there are 17 primarchs. Everyone knows there are only 9 or 10, depending on if you count Horus.

If you don’t want her, the Astra Militarum will apologize for the inconvenience and throw her back in the trash.

I don’t know how much info you need, so I have a physical description to go with a tiny headshot, some personality, and a weird fact.

Damián Vespus - dark curly/wavy hair, dark eyes, medium tan skin, trans masc. Both legs were amputated at mid-thigh when he was little. He can use stubbies or full prosthetics, but he also uses a wheelchair if his stumps need a break. His build is lean and muscular due to artificer work and regular PT.

He’s outgoing and friendly but has a catty streak he tries to suppress. He’s a recovering perfectionist. He might thoughtlessly say “flaws are what give things their personality” and mortally offend every son of Fulgrim in the vicinity, or at least Naël. Naël seems like he’d be offended by that.

He’s very, very good at using tap code cipher and often taps random thoughts or prayer fragments against whatever surface is nearby. Coal could easily convince him the ship is haunted by tapping back.

Honestly? I think he and Naël are going to be catty friends. XD Naël is also a recovering perfectionist in a way, with how Morgen tempered his people's quest for perfection. However, someone not afraid to put him on the back foot is rare, and he really likes that! :D thank you for him, yoink! :D
