Hey friends. Been a while.

My mom was diagnosed with alzhimers last week.

The diagnosis wasn't a shock. I've known something wasn't right for a while, but the diagnosis comes with a lot of emotional weight.

I've been on a lot of job interviews, and I've managed to get hired as an arts and crafts counselor at a summer camp starting at the end of June.

I still have a few interviews coming up this week, but I am just so tired. I feel so depleted. Maybe a little depressed. Stability is not an easy thing to come by.

I want to write and paint and create for myself, but I can't seem to get there. At least not right now.

At the very least, I have slowly started to read again, so all of you amazing writers, I hope you are ready to get kudos and comments!

Until then, I'm taking the last few days of the year easy, and then hoping to get chapter 4 posted on January 9th!

Overall. This has been a tough year for me. A lot changed when I lost the job I had for 11 years. A lot changed when I started a business. I've been finding it hard to focus on writing because of this.

It's not that I've lost interest in the story. It's just that all my energy is going into making sure my business succeeds.

This probably sounds like a broken record at this point. Lol. I just want to be transparent with ya'll. I'm going to try and stick to a monthly upload schedule. But idk what I can promise. It may wind up being more scattered?

My computer died.

2 weeks ago, it just shut off while I was editing chapter 4 of HL&S. It was so sudden I thought the power had gone out.

It's currently in the shop, awaiting a new logic board. This means chapter 4 is going to be delayed since I can't really edit or create the scene illustrations without it. 😅

Until then, I'll keep ya'll posted with updates as they come in.

Please say a prayer for my computer while it's in surgery 🛐 (Bigbee would appreciate the kindness)

My goal was to be halfway through writing my next Catfish AU fic this year, but holy shit ya'll, when I tell you I've been busy....

I'm going through a bit of a career shift at the moment. The animation gig that I've had for the past 11 years is coming to an end, and I'm transitioning to drawing caricatures at fairs and private parties.

I'm really happy to say it's going very well! But I'm not so happy to say it's taking all of my mental bandwidth.

Running a business means I have to grind. Doing the actual caricatures is only 25% of the work. The other 75% is devoted to emailing clients, rejections, negotiating, attending networking events, and learning how to set up a flipping business on my own! OTL

I wish i could say I knew when things would settle into place and feel normal again, but I don't.

The first three chapters of HL&S are written, but I don't want to post something I feel half confident in. I hope that makes sense.

Until then, please enjoy my silly ask Milluki comics, and know that the next fanfic will be out...eventually!
