FACE FORWARD - Meet the Photographer Advocation for Black Beauty in the Fashion Industry: Glenford Nuñez
“You photograph what you see around and the things you care about,” Nuñez says. “My mom is a Black woman. My sister is a Black woman. These are the people I love, so I want them to be depicted in the best possible light.” He is on a mission to capture at least 100 aspiring Black models to affirm that our beauty — inside an out — is worthy of praise.
featured models: Ra’Chael Baker, Kennedy McDaniel, Sinmidele Badero,Tene’A Cummings, Ariana Gulford, Emoni Baraka, Tayquana Demery

REN HANG
RIP. Such an amazing and influential photographer. The lighting and pops of colour will always be the signature style admired by many.
LORRAINE YOUNG
All of these models are giving the same expression? I just realized. Not too sure if I am a fan of her fashion work but I do appreciate the beauty work.
MONICA MENEZ
Photographer & director. So different, really artistic photography. She reminds me of Erwin Olaf. There's a consistent lighting technique and editing style that makes the work stand out. Also model casting is not random, has the feel of "50s house wife" ideal living.
RORY VAN MILLIGEN
Strong portrait work. A lot of celebrity portraits. Usually not into black and white imagery but I do like the subject interaction in his work.
SYLVIE BENOIT
I like the mirror play in this work. I'm really questioning how it was done, I also think it is their signature style. Smokey, foggy imagery. I really like the first image as well. Looks like multidisciplinary art
LANE LANG
Photography duo based in NY & Beijing
I'm simply in love with everything on their website. I never would've known it was a duo, but I find that I love duos more (sometimes) than other solo photographers. With two artists, there is more attention to detail, light composition etc. Usually there is twice the creativity and a larger body of work.
TAKAHIRO OGAWA
Looks like Miles Aldridge meets Quintin Shih 😍😍😍😍 Narrative + light = happy me.
DAVID SKYES
Conceptual food photography. I would probably still hate shooting something like this considering they're objects that don't move and I also wouldn't be able to eat the food during/after. I do think this is fun though! It reminds me of being in grade school, playing pretend with false food items but this is a bit more sophisticated.
SABINE LIEWALD
Yes. Yes. Sabine's book is so dynamic. There's so much attention to detail, lighting and concepts. I can tell there's a lot of different modifiers, lighting setups all being explored so I know it would be fun to watch behind the scenes footage. Especially the first set of images I included, I think it would be a crazy lighting set up.
JOHN YUYI
Really love this work, there's a lot of fun twists with social media, gaming & selfie culture. A NY based artist, she's taking over the art world with fun body-based art. A lot of her inspiration comes from the Internet and social media. Taking objects and recontextualizing them as other objects. The work of hers I'm really attracted to is when she makes the temporary tattoos of Twitter bio's, people's images and more. She was featured as artist of the week on The Red List.
STEPHANE YU
Film. Fun. Flash. Candid. Timeless. Moments. Real People. Captured. Love. Party. Culture.
DIR. WES ANDERSON for H&M
I found this really cool because I didn’t know there was a full length short that went with the H&M advertisements I was seeing everywhere. It’s really quirky and fun, something I enjoyed watching. H&M does a really good job with casting in regards to the clothing they offer. Great seasonal exploration
