truth be told, he figured that was the case. figured that the reason why he hadn’t seen her father was because…. well, she didn’t really have one growing up. nobody to understand her in ways that her mother never could. but regardless of what happened in her childhood, she still grew up to be someone that held a strong heart in the hollows of her chest. at the end of the day, wasn’t that the only thing that mattered? “i’m here to look out for you. sure, you might not have a dad that was there for you… but you can have a friend or a brother that will do that and more.” arm wraps around her and hugs her tightly to his side, kiss placed on the top of her head. “you’re so strong. i admire it.”

Maya didn’t need anyone to look after her, she and Henryk both knew that much. But she appreciated that he wanted to. It meant a lot to her that he would even let her that close into his life that he wanted to protect her. Not many people wanted Maya close to them. She was a ticking time bomb, a basket case, a lose cannon, a million other things that various people had dubbed her in the past. “You’re a good guy Henny. I mean it. I don’t care what anyone else thinks of you, you’re a pretty great friend.”

Caleb shook his head and let his chin drop to his chest. “She doesn’t have any family. I’m all there is. I know you’re not supposed to say anything because I’m not her blood or her husband but...believe me when I say, there is no one else to call.” He could care less about how fantastic these surgeons thought they were. All he cared about right now was a petite little blonde who was in some cold and sterile operating room right now, hopefully not bleeding to death, alone.

the unfamiliar voice managed to catch her attention, head whipping around enough to send red curls fluttering about as she turned to face the stranger. april was familiar wth the case –– hunt had just taken her up to surgery with torres. “of course. she’s in surgery right now, which is why you can’t get a hold of her. they took her up immediately after she came in. more than likely, it’s going to be a few hours.”

“Surgery?!” He paled as he reached out to grab the counter beside him, palms sweating as he tried not to pass out. “Well what’s wrong with her? How badly is she hurt?” Caleb was supposed to be there, he should have been with her. The male felt his knees start to give out and he gripped the counter harder, closing his eyes to try and suck in a deep breath and focus. “I-I-I can’t just sit here not knowing whats happening with her...”
