Overweight Pets
I believe that 75% of people that have overweight pets try to do something for them to help them lose weight, but it’s that other 25% that I worry about.
A few years ago, it became the new “thing” to have an overweight cat or dog and make fun of them on the internet. Today, that same thing still gets a lot of attention, but I find a lot of that attention is now negative.
I don’t think that glorifying unhealthy animals is the right thing to do, so for the most part (with some exceptions) I don’t like posting things of this nature.
One of those exceptions is Fat Fred, a picture I just recently posted. That was an exception made because he was living in a shelter that has him on a diet that doesn’t seem to be working, but they are trying.
I do not in anyway think that you should make your pet overweight for likes or useless internet points. There are Instagrams dedicated to overweight pets, and it makes me sad for those animals.
Please, If you’ve decided to follow or like pictures of this nature on any social media, I encourage you to rethink those actions.
We have to be better.
