I never thought it would get better. I spent three years in a living hell. My parents getting a divorce, my mother getting into drugs, losing my house and failing at school. Everything was falling apart. I would lay in bed and cry. I wouldn't get up for days, even weeks sometimes. My self harm was at its worse. I had such a hard time staying alive let alone trying every day. I can't pin point an exact moment that it got better. I didn't wake up one day and feel it. I went to the doctor and got on antidepressants. It took seven different types of meds and even more dose changes to find the right combination for me. Even now I am still tweaking the medication I use to how I am doing. I started going back to school and showing up everyday made such a huge difference in my grades. I started to have hope. My home life got even worse before it got better, but it did get better. I can not say when it will get better. I can not imagine the pain and grief others go through. All I can say is that it will get better, even if you swear up and down that it will not. I thought I was going to die before highschool started. Yet, here I am graduating. It was painful and hard, but I can finally wake up in the morning and be happy that I am awake. I can finally go to sleep without thinking of the ways I should kill myself. I dream now. I look forward to the future. Please hang on until you get here, because life is such a wonderful thing to be alive for once you do.
