I also really loved the moment in CR cooldown where Marisha talked about how Alex is a longtime friend, since before CR started airing, and how much it means to her having been deeply attached to the Cobalt Soul since she developed the character of Beau. I really do think a brusque but deeply protective guy with a messy relationship with his mother being a founder of the Cobalt Soul feels good and right. And I think that while this didn't come up in Cooldown, Patia's orb ultimately being crucial to founding an institution to which anyone can come and find knowledge, after she in her final hours regretted hoarding it, feels right as well.

So, for the people who haven't seen campaign 1 and don't know CR's full backstory:

- the very first streamed episode of campaign 1 started with Vox Machina arriving in Kraghammer

- The original oneshot that became the home game that became campaign 1 was set in Stillben

- That oneshot was a birthday gift from Matt to Liam (and also Laura because they share a birthday)

This ending is a one-two-three punch of going full circle, and that's even before getting to the god stuff

The fact that the Calamity trilogy gave us the majority of the Prime Deities either as player characters or just much more fleshed out is going to make rewatches of the main campaigns so funny. Jester is defacing the temple of her player’s dear dear friend Liam O’Brien. Taliesin is ringing himself every time Caduceus prays to the Wildmother. Pike isn’t threatening the Dawnfather if he hurts Vex in his trial, that’s Nick Marini. The Bright Queen is beefing eternally with Aabria Iyengar.

If I see one more “I’m sick of all the references and appearances from old campaigns” NO THIS IS THE POINT OF IT. IT IS A GAME. THE PLAYERS ARE HAVING FUN. TRAVIS STARTED TEARING UP SEEING GROG. LIAM GOT TO DECORATE CALEB’S HOUSE. LAURA GOT TO PUT DICKS IN IT. THIS IS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT. IT’S THE 8 (9) OF THEM PLAYING A GAME. AND WE GET TO ENJOY IT TOO. WE GET TO FREAK OUT WHEN THE HOT BOI IS ON SCREEN OR THE GIANT UNDEAD TITAN IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY. How are people not enjoying this why do you watch a homebrewed world if you don’t love to see all of the effects that the players have had on this world that was made by and for them
