Okay, let's elaborate this post
It's been nearly 1 year since the death of the Wicked Witch of the West; the Scarecrow had disappeared around that time, after Dorothy Gale returned home, and now he's reappearing somewhere alongside the border between Gillikin and Winkie Country, close to the desert, struggling to push a stroller containing a baby.
No one knew where he'd gone to, or why, or where he'd get the baby; he refused to answer all those questions, insisting he needs to talk to Glinda the Good, the construct did a great service to Oz a year before by helping kill the Wicked Witch, so folks are more than happy to help him reach the Emerald City and speak with Glinda the Good
Glinda is actually not thrilled to see the Scarecrow (she's still not fully okay with Brrr the Lion and Boq, but they've been working hard accomplishing Elphie's dream, so she tolerates them) but once she sees him, she's gets concerned for him; he looks miserable, like he's falling apart, literally and metaphorically. And then there's the baby, he's a boy no more than 3 months old, the Scarecrow is very resistant to help, but it's clear that he struggles taking care of the child, he never fully lifts him, he might be too heavy for the construct to carry
Finally the two meet in private, the Scarecrow looks more worn down, if that's even possible. Glinda is her professional pleasant self, as usual; but the Scarecrow gives a sad, meaningful look
"First of, I want to say I am sorry, for everything" he starts "I never meant to hurt you"
Glinda is confused for a moment, why would the Scarecrow be sorry? But then she looks at him, truly looks at him and something clicks into place; no that's... impossible, but....
"Yes" he responds looking defeated
"No, no, you?? Fiyero??" the witch stammers confused
"I'm sorry" Fiyero says again looking genuinely upset
"How? Why? Did, did--??" she has so many questions, but the baby makes a noise, demanding attention
Fiyero turns to the child to see to whatever he needs
"Fiyero, where did get this baby?" the witch tries not to sound to accusatory
"This is Liir, he's my son. Mine... and Elphaba's"
Glinda looks at the child again, he's no more than 3 months old, Elphaba supposedly died almost a year ago. She didn't, didn't she?
"We faked her death in Kiamo Ko and fled Oz"
She did. They did; they left her behind, again
Glinda wants to rage at the unfairness; but there's a problem, here's Fiyero, and here's Fiyero and Elphaba's son
"Where is Elphaba?" she asks not wanting to hear the answer
Fiyero practically collapses on a nearby chair. No. No, no, no, no, no
"Do you know how Elphaba's mother died?" he asks as a form of answer
Glinda also collapses. Her cries are pained, and loud; it was so unfair, Elphie had lived, only so Glinda could loose her again
"She was so afraid" Fiyero continued "I told her it would be alright; I promised her it would be alright" his voice is ragged and pained, and now Glinda knows scarecrows can't cry
After stewing on their shared misery for some time; Glinda looks up at the supposedly dead prince and asks
He turns to look at his son
"I need your help" he says placing a hand on the baby stroller "I can't do this alone, I can't even carry him!" he continues and he sounds desperate
The witch looks him and then at the stroller, she doesn't know what to say
"Glinda please!" he begs desperately, on his knees "Don't do it for me, we both know you don't owe me anything; do it for Elphaba, do it for her son, by all right you should be his godmother"
Glinda goes to the baby stroller and looks at the boy again; he looks nothing like Elphaba, but still he's undeniably hers. She takes the baby from his stroller and holds him against her chest
"Okay. I'll help you; I'll do it for her, for my Elphie"
Fiyero lets out a loud sob and grabs onto Glinda's legs
"Thank you, thank you, thank you"
