One of thirteen Taylor Swift Eras Tour wax figures on display at Madam Tussauds Museums around the world.
The Tortured Poets Department Era is on display at the Madame Tussauds Museum in Sydney.
And so ends the most successful concert tour of all time.
51 cities in 21 countries across 5 continents in 21 months.
149 sold out shows.
Of all the countries Taylor performed in, the Eras Tour was the first time for 8 of them.
Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Sweden, Portugal, Wales, Switzerland and Poland.
It was also to be Taylor’s first time performing in Austria, but some bad people saw to it that the three concerts were cancelled.
I am confident Taylor will return to Austria in the near future.
I am also confident that Taylor will one day perform in the continent of Africa, which is the only habitable continent that was skipped on the Eras Tour.
The only city in Africa that regularly hosts big name artists is Johannesburg in South Africa.
FNB Stadium would be perfect for a large scale show.
As you can imagine, a show this big can’t go everywhere in the world.
Certain cities missed out on the Eras Tour
Here are a few, and the reasons behind them missing out.
The Philippines.
The Singapore Tourism Board provided a grant to ensure that Singapore was the only South East Asia stop on the Eras Tour.
It is said that the Philippines will have a “Taylor Swift ready stadium” by 2028.
Brisbane, Queensland (Australia).
Along with Melbourne and Sydney, Brisbane was a possibility to host the Eras Tour with Suncorp Stadium being the venue, but Tokyo had already been booked for the week before Melbourne and Singapore had already been booked for the week after Sydney.
There is nothing to suggest any other markets in Australia (for example: Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle or Townsville) were considered to host The Eras Tour.
Auckland, New Zealand.
At the time, Eden Park in Auckland had a concert cap of six shows per year.
With P!nk already scheduled to play 2 shows there in March and Coldplay scheduled to play 3 shows in November, this left only one show remaining that could be held at Eden Park in 2024.
The concert cap was recently increased to 12, which is plenty for New Zealand.
Montreal, Quebec (Canada): When the Canadian dates were being scheduled, Montreal was a possibility in the planning stages but the retractable roof at Olympic Stadium was not up to scratch for such a major event in Winter.
Also because Winter was approaching in Canada at the time of the Eras Tour, a concert in an open air stadium such as Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton (Canada’s largest stadium) or Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg was not possible.
If the Eras Tour had gone to Canada in the Summer, open air stadiums might have been included.
Happy 35th Birthday, Taylor.
