“Reverie is not a mind vacuum. It is rather the gift of an hour which knows the plenitude of the soul”. ~Gaston Bachelard. DA CAPO EP is the product of deep self-introspection, documenting, and capturing the remnants of alternate planes travelled when the now simply isn’t good enough. It is the exploration of an abyss between reality, a daydream and the future. DA CAPO, meaning from the head, sets to piece together and imitate the thoughts and emotions that frequent the unfocused mind into one cohesive experience. Albert Einstein once said “I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music.” I too, think in music and as I began the process of this introspective project, I found most of my thoughts, plans, desires, and foundations of my musical compositions to be engineered and inspired in this daydream realm and like the nature of a daydream, where the mind wanders with no true control or destination, all the music composed and performed were improvisations built upon each other, mostly on a whim, with little initial direction or idea of what the music was to sound like or become. DA CAPO is a glimpse into this uncharted dream world and it concludes “Nothing makes time pass or shortens the way like a thought that absorbs in itself all the faculties of the one who is thinking. External existence is then like a sleep of which this thought is the dream. Under its influence, time has no more measure, space has no more distance.”
